VW/Audi DSG fart

I'm not really too sure how to describe it. From what I've seen, it seems to be mostly VW. Sometimes Audi. I'm assuming it's caused by DSG or similar. Everywhere I go these days I seem to have German cars farting at me.
What causes this? And does anyone actually like this? It's not exactly a nice crackle/bang after coming off the power.

Thought it was cause they chucked a bit more fuel during gear changes. I think it stupid.
Then again computers are good at boring and repetitive tasks, so hopefully it's a button or menu option to turn it off

Timing/spark cut when shifting, safer then the old fuel cut shifting options.

I had it on my Scirocco and now my TT does it too. I like it
When you upshift over about 5000rpm a valve opens in the exhaust and you get a pop.

AMG 45 Mercs do it too. I think it sounds better inside the car
