Hey guys i have my modem in the lounge which is about 20m away from the pc room (no big deal pc is wired) but just the wireless signal when people have laptops or phones in there is terrible. Even in the spare bedroom it is bad.
Just wondering if anyone has had success with wifi range extenders or is there an option like running a switch in the pc room that also does a wifi signal or something. Cheers guys

I have my wifi extended (same SSID) with two Access Points cabled to a switch. If your extending by wifi (to the main AP) then its performance is based off the signal strength and noise ratio.

So does that mean i can do the single cable to the pc room from the router to a switch which outs out wifi or is there something I'm missing. Wifi isn't something i know much about

I use an EOP adapter TP-link (well, 4 in fact) one of them a wifi extender for the other corner of the house. Works well for regular wifi, not working with 5g this one.
Oh, one glitch is that it seems they don't work reliably unless they are directly in the wall plug. Or in an extremely simple adapter, without all the overvoltage protective gizmos .

Got an old WiFi router/modem? If so turn it into a combined Switch & WiFi Access Point.
Use one LAN port & your cable to run the old router in the PC room, use another LAN port to run PC in that room. Then configure the WiFi as an AP.
If you keep the WiFi SSID & password the same between both routers all devices will seamlessly switch to the one giving the better signal
I have done this to run a PC & have WiFi in the garage...
