I find myself defending this guy a lot which annoys me as I do think he is an imbecile, not quite W level but close.

Anyhoo in the case with the vet what was he supposed to say? Obviously congratulations is crass at the very least but what else? On behalf of a grateful nation? He isn't dead, that's only ever said to grieving widows/kin.

I just dunno what he could have said in that situation to a poor bastard who's had his farken leg blown off.

To clarify, the Purple Heart is given for
"Being wounded or killed in any action against an enemy of the United States or as a result of an act of any such enemy or opposing armed forces"

He's essentially saying congratulations on being wounded. It's not like he won a prize.

It was clearly off the cuff and anyone could've stumbled. Sure Ike or JFK would not have but he's not even remotely in the same league as them.

This is the problem, he's not anyone, he's the POTUS. He should either know this stuff already or be briefed before hand. It's his job to know and he's fucking up nearly every aspect of his job from top to bottom. Before he won it was clear he had no political experience but it's become glaringly obvious that he has no idea what is doing, even with very basic tasks. At best he's embarrassing himself and the country, and at worst he's putting them in danger.

You get the purple heart for blood spilt in combat or a combat zone. I was talking to a WW2 Aussie fighter pilot and they got attached to the USAAC in WW2. This guys mate flipped his plane on landing after hitting a bomb hole on the runway. He got a cut on his head and they gave him a purple heart.

It's kind of a relief that Trump is so utterly incompetent because it's preventing him from doing any serious damage. That said, we're 100 days in and he's already realised (or somebody's told him) that when US politicians are losing the public, they start throwing missiles around in the middle east.

I'm waiting for a cold war with Canada to start. Alan Alda did it in Canadian Bacon when things were not so great for the US.

That would be a very risky move though, very few countries do cold as well as the Canadians do.

He misses driving, feels as if he is in a cocoon, and is surprised how hard his new job is.

President Donald Trump on Thursday reflected on his first 100 days in office with a wistful look at his life before the White House.

"I loved my previous life. I had so many things going," Trump told Reuters in an interview. "This is more work than in my previous life. I thought it would be easier."

He thought it would be easier??

Imagine how hard he'd have to work to actually achieve something useful!

I think he honestly thought he would enter the White House and start changing things and everyone would applaud him. He's clearly got no idea how it all works. I think one of the biggest problems is he's spent his entire life as a business man where everything he and his cohorts did was all for him. It was all narcissistic self indulgence. Now he has to turn that thinking around and make decisions that are about everybody else and he's never had to put other people first before.

Basically it's the first time he's had to do some work and it's shocked him.

Read this transcript and tell me he should be in charge of anything.
