Speaking to L’Equipe after Indy 500 qualifying, Hamilton said:
“Fernando, in his first qualifying, came fifth. Does that say something about [the level] of IndyCar? Great drivers, if they can’t succeed in Formula One, look for titles in other races, but to see him come fifth against drivers who do this all year round is… interesting.”
If for whatever reason you can’t watch the video, he said:
“You [Alonso] bought a lot to this year, you were humble, not like your other F1 drivers who made some comments this month.
“What you gonna say, the guy [Hamilton] raced two cars last year and finished second.”
