He was James Bond to me as he was the first actor I saw who played him.

As a kid I loved his TV shows Ivanhoe & as Simon Templar in The Saint, loved that Volvo P1800 too. He was always an over the top Bond I thought, but in the late '70's they were so much fun to watch.

I only just remember him as the Saint. He was a great Bond

Awesome story. I saw him once in person when I was in Germany as a teenager - just happened to be in the city we were visiting and still have the (poor quality long distance) photo somewhere.
