I find this more concerning than exciting... "Further development has gone into the game's handling dynamics, with a "new authentic" model and greater attention on tyre behaviour, mirroring Codemasters' approach to F1 2018 earlier this year."

I guess it wasn't released initially for DiRT Rally 1.0 either. Still, that's a bummer.

So what does that mean for us? I've never played F1 sims.
Surprise, no sig. Now there is. Or is there?

Time to get dirty once more… Codemasters announced that they are working on DiRT Rally 2.0 which is the follow-up of their hugely successful DiRT Rally title. DiRT Rally 2.0 is scheduled to become available worldwide on PS4, Xbox One and PC on Tuesday 26th February 2019. Deluxe Edition players will be able to gain access to the game four days earlier on February 22, 2019.
The preorder DiRT Rally 2.0 is already available on Steam for $59.99 USD, while the pre-order DiRT Rally 2.0 Deluxe Edition can be purchased for $79.99 USD.

DiRT Rally 2.0 will take you to six rally locations around the world where you can take on incredible hand-crafted stages in a wide variety of cars from the history of the sport and modern day. As the official game of the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy, DiRT Rally 2.0 will also feature cars from the 2018 season as well as eight of the official WorldRX circuits at launch.

Pre-Orders
All pre-orders editions of DiRT Rally 2.0 will include access to the amazing Porsche 911 RGT Rally Spec as a bonus vehicle to use on the stages. In addition, there will also be a DiRT Rally 2.0 Deluxe Edition which also includes the first two seasons of post-launch additional content, each with three locations (split between rally and rallycross) and five early vehicles unlocks.
Ford Escort MkII
Lancia Stratos
Subaru Impreza 1995
AUDI Sport Quattro S1 E2
Ford Fiesta OMSE SuperCar Lite
The Deluxe Edition will also allow players to get their hands on the game four days early, launching on 22nd February 2019 and also includes upgraded starter cars for My Team, in-game bonuses, and high reward events.

We are thrilled to finally be able to talk about DiRT Rally 2.0, commented Ross Gowing, Chief Games Designer, Codemasters. Rally is incredibly important to Codemasters and the entire team is absolutely dedicated to creating the most authentic experience possible in a game.
Our passionate, knowledgeable community helped to make DiRT Rally a special title. We have been working with a selection of that community alongside a roster of real-world rally drivers to ensure that we meet their high standards, continued Ross. We are not afraid to make a challenging game. Driving a rally car down a stage is not easy and we want players to experience that same adrenaline rush from driving on the edge.

Well I don't know, It's been a while since I played an F1 sim. Last time I gave it a bash it was fun, but I wouldn't have thought it was very accurate. DiRT Rally, to me at least, feels pretty accurate in comparison.

For once I'd be happy to hear them say, 'we've taken the platform you know and love, and expanded it's content dramatically while advancements in video adapters have allowed us to take a leap forward in a realistic look.' or something like that. I get why that will likely never happen for marketing reasons.

You'd almost rather hear it the other way around, we've made F1 2018 more realistic like Dirt rally.

Absolutely.

If I recall correctly, the dude who got to head up DiRT Rally was also an amateur rally driver. I wonder if he’s still involved and allowed to give input. They also listened very closely to sim racers around the scene, and made significant FFB changes etc to make sure it was as good as it could be.

I’m just very skeptical when it comes to code masters. I think the first game was never meant to attract as much good publicity as it did. Now they have something they can really run with, and potentially forgot why it became so loved in the first place. Well. Maybe I’m wrong. I hope I’m wrong. And I hope they get around to adding VR.

With DiRT Rally 2.0 recently announced, Codemasters thought it the right time to give some love to the new for the series Audi S1 EKS EX quattro and the PSRX VW Polo GTi…
Coming to the DiRT franchise for the first time, the incredibly powerful and mightily impressive Audi S1 EKS EX quattro and the PSRX VW Polo GTi FIA World Rallycross machines are some of the highlight cars of the upcoming DiRT Rally 2.0, and to help celebrate their inclusion and keep that hype train rolling ever onwards, developers Codemasters have revealed some nice new preview images to get all excited about...
