Wales rally is great fun. That fence post is back from 1 and I've hit it every time I've done sweet lamb. Can't wait for VR now.

I found this post which says no multiplayer crossplay. I don't know if that includes leagues.

https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/41 ... ent-452768

Really bazaar that they didn't include the native oculus support in the Steam version.

This is great fun in VR. So far I've improved by about 2 seconds everywhere I go in VR :)

I had no issues with graphics or stuttering. Just plugged in the Rift and it all worked fine.

Codemasters confirmed that DiRT Rally 2.0 Seasons Three and Four DLC’s will launch respectively on the 27th August, and November 19, bringing some exciting new content to the popular Rally Simulator.

"It’s been six months since we launched DiRT Rally 2.0 and the response from our community has been really positive, said Ross Gowing, DiRT Rally 2.0 Game Director at Codemasters. We spend a lot of time listening to our players and we’re delighted to bring them remastered classics alongside new vehicles and locations to give them a completely new experience.

Seasons Three and Four are a perfect blend of classic and new with the likes of Greece and Finland which were established on the original DiRT Rally, through to new RX circuits in Abu Dhabi and South Africa. There is so much variety that will appeal to old and new players alike. We’re also delighted to update the FIA World Rallycross Championship with new 2019 vehicles as well as bodywork and livery updates.”

At the beginning of August, Codemasters released update V1.7 for their DiRT Rally 2.0 title which added the long-awaited VR support via the Oculus Store and Steam (OpenVR). While this was great news, allot of the DiRT fans were not overwhelmed by the quality and stability of the VR implementation.

Luckily, the development team is keeping track of all the tips/complaints by the community, and is already fixing and improving VR support issues. The first batch of VR related improvements will be part of the DiRT Rally 2.0 Update V 1.8 which will become available on September 3.

Codemasters Quote:
First up, we posted a VR settings guide. If you haven’t seen it yet it’s here: Forum Thread: VR Performance FAQ

Next, we looked at what changes could be made in time for our next update. Version 1.8 is expected to release around September 3. Here’s a snippet of the Patch Notes (which we’re currently assembling) detailing what’s changing for VR:

Added option allowing players to choose whether to launch the game in 2D Mode or VR Mode.
Added support for separate graphics presets between 2D Mode and VR Mode.
Added support for “-novr” launch command.
Added ability to bind “Reset View” to a preferred buttons/keys.
Resolved issue where the game would crash if no VR headset was plugged in.
Improved readability of UI text in VR Mode.
In addition to this, we are currently investigating what is required in terms of time and resources to implement Oculus SDK support into the Steam version of the game.

Adding Oculus SDK support to the Steam version is not a simple matter of flicking a switch, nor is it a case of copy/pasting code from the Oculus version. It’s also not something that can happen immediately or in a very short space of time. We’ll share more in the future once things progress.

Codemasters has released the Week-1 content for the DiRT Rally 2.0 Season 3 DLC expansions.
This release adds two famous rally cars from the early 2000s. The Ford Focus RS Rally 2001 and the Subaru Impreza 2001.
Both of these cars are available as part of the Season 3 content. If you have a bundle containing Season 3 (like the Seasons 3 & 4 deluxe Content, the Year Pass or the Super Deluxe version of the game) these cars will become available automatically. The Ford Focus RS Rally 2001 & Subaru Impreza 2001 can also be purchased individually.

I decided to purchase after I saw enough posts that made me feel that Rift performance would be good enough on the Steam version. Too bad I discovered it after the Steam sale finished. Good ol' cdkeys to the rescue.

Picking up a handbrake controller from ebay too.

Good to see they're considering putting the Oculus SDK into the Steam version.

Sorry for the late response Cursed but I did get it through steam. It worked first try in VR and I didn't have to change a thing. I found a 2 second improvement in VR across the board.

No problems, Doc. I saw your response. I just like to see a good number of positives, mainly because PC hardware is so diverse and people's experiences vary widely.

I've also discovered OpenComposite which lets me do away with using SteamVR for some games. It helped with No Man's Sky VR performance.

Just have to work out how to mount it to the Strap-On Cockpit (TM), and I'll be good to go.

Yep, analogue. Seems to be using a Hall Effect sensor and magnet rather than a pot.

The spring in it is a lot stiffer than I expected. Hopefully it won't be as noticeable when it's screwed down.

Rally Greece just frightened the life out of me in VR driving a 306 Maxi. Holy shit it was intense getting up to speed on some of down hill sections only to find a tight right hair pin with one hell of a drop off the edge. Hand brake around and the front wheels trying to drag it out of the slide.
