Ooph that's unfortunate. Much better than auto though hehe.

You know I've never driven a SMG on a roadcar, only type of transmission I've not. Whilst looking into it (curious whether you still had a clutch to get off the mark) I found this interesting article.

Thanks Jamo,

I've only had it for a few days but it's interesting transmission to drive. You get roll back on hills and blipping the throttle just after shift to rev match really smooths the ride (unsurprisingly).

Thanks for that article.

They are nice rides.

Awesome Pix! My first real (attainable) dream car. But now that I've gotten to the point where I could afford one, they've started to go up in value unless they have crazy kms. I ended up grabbing a new car instead. Still a massive soft spot for the E46 M3. That S54 at 8000rpm sounds glorious!

Yeah the sub 100k mint examples are going for up to $50k! I paid a third of that but it is definitely well loved.

I've not been game to hit 7500rpm but it sounds awesome at 6000.

I have to satisfy myself with a car that was also engineered by Albert Bierman and also has the variable lit up redline.

One day I'll get an M3!

The NSW BMW Car Club is having a CAMS Come and Try Day at Sydney Motorsport Park on the 13th of April.

I am going to take the beast down for some laps. It's a cheap way to get some track time.

If anyone else is keen let me know as they might allow non BMW entries if there is room.

Well, I got someone to do it for me.

It's quite straight forward. Uses the same gearbox and changes the shifter and a few other parts, flash the ECU and away you go
