Re: F1 2019 car launches and testing
Presumably just testing livery but as with every year they've done this, it would be nice if they kept it.
Could they have made the word Honda any smaller?

Just noticed how small the Renault top air intake is.

Amazing how quickly you get used to the Halo.

Re: F1 2019 car launches and testing
That Merc looks cool as fuck!
Not too much of a fan of the RedBull testing livery but hey, its good to have something different to look at from RBR.
The Racing Point looks alright, think i preferred last years livery but this one still works for me. Nice integration of the halo into the lines of the livery which really helps hide it.
One thing that is my biggest take away so far, those front wings are seriously mashoosive!!!
Some interesting designs in each teams bargeboards as well as the rear wing end plates.
The detail in the bargeboard area on the Racing Point is pretty mental form this angle.

RIP intended goal of the front wing simplification. Hopefully cars don't have an even harder time following each other with all that shit going on.KNAPPO wrote:The detail in the bargeboard area on the Racing Point is pretty mental form this angle.

Re: F1 2019 car launches and testing
RedBull looks like its very tightly packaged from side pod intakes thru to the bodywork around the engine and gearbox.
It'll be interesting to see how that Honda goes in terms of performance and heat, makes you wonder if Honda has found something or RBR are squeezing them for everything they are worth.

The Sauber has been spotted with testing livery and a rather interesting front wing!

Torro Rosso have also sloped the wing down to the end plates.

Re: F1 2019 car launches and testing
Wow that's a huge design philosophy change on those front wings.
The air intake on the Alfa Romeo / Sauber is very unique.
I wonder how much Ferrari are using them to test some of their own design ideas?
That McL is Norbs wet dream (Orange & Blue).
The parallel wings off the front of the side pods are very interesting. They also have a double strut mount for the rear wing, I don't think we have seen that before?
Edit: Just noticed the Merc & Alfa also have the double strut mount as well as the Renault by the looks.

Re: F1 2019 car launches and testing
I'm loving the different philosophies on the front wing...
Williams trying to push air over the wheel
erm.. whomever is going to keep it generic (pfft)
and pushing the air around and through the gap
I noticed the streaks under the front wing are moving air to the inside of the front wheel, so the negative pressure under the wing is to the outside to enhance the suction effect on the upper surface to the outside.
God I love F1 launch season :P

Re: F1 2019 car launches and testing
So looks like it'll be the battle between the normal front wings vs the radical inverted V idea.

Re: F1 2019 car launches and testing
Why only renders, leaked early?
I bet the Fezza will change significantly from this when it appears for real at the Barcelona test & even more so come Melb GP.

Re: F1 2019 car launches and testing
I guess renders are cheaper than getting it photographed. Also they can render the wings and details however they like instead of spending money on a 'fake' wing.
Also the car is matt red this year so that makes the pics look even more rendered!
