Wow Bo77as was dominant.
Ferrari way off. Team orders sucked arse.
Surprise Honda Podium.
Dan screwed his own race, but had to try.
Typical strange Melbourne race albeit pretty boring.

Good on Honda .
Good on BottBott.
And Dan wtf the start is very important but there is 58 laps worth of opportunity , then again he knows a damn sight more than me .

I actually think he would know, they all do track walks & it's that sort of thing they look for & take notes on.

So he thought "fuck, this looks like a great short cut.... the grass is only 4 inches higher than the concrete, I'll give it a red hot go!" ? :D

Usual Melbourne GP, although was very interesting to see Hamilton so far back. For once, I think he genuinely had a mechanical issue.

Still have to wait till bahrain to know how the season will really go.

Fastest lap seemed to work, would of been nice for the camera's to focus on it but can't have everything

He really had no choice once he committed to that side.
But after hearing what he had to say, it sounds like he had no clue it was there, unless he isn't willing to admit it.
Eitherway I bet they'll take notes on this sort of stuff from now on.

I think it needs two more rounds before the season reveals its self fully. Melbourne is an odd place that can hint at what is to come. The corners are fast and that doesn't often allow for much overtaking. It can be follow the leader. Bahrain and China are better at showing the potential. Also once the teams get closer to their resources it will play out a bit more. Unless you are Williams, then you have real issues.

Wasn't a bad race. Plenty going on.

Great win for Bottas. I hope he wins the next one too and really sticks it to Hamilton.

The rookies didn't do too badly, Williams looked awful, Gasly looked poor not getting past Kvyat when he had new tyres on. Just hope Ferrari can figure out what was wrong and close the gap up.

Yeah not the worse Melbourne race ever, the fastest lap thing was great, generally at that stage their would have been a bit of a drop off but the extra point added some spice.

Interesting post on Reddit about Ferrari

Isn't good for Ferrari (& RBR) if what Merc are saying about the lack of pace from Loowis is true: Hamilton says he didn’t do a good enough job, as Mercedes reveal floor damage

I noticed the Ferraris losing speed during the race at the end of the straight and wondered if there as battery issue.

I read elsewhere that they had some heat issues and when it was apparent they weren't going to catch the car ahead and they were safe where they were they turned them down. Might also explain why Leclerc didn't pit to go for the fastest lap prize when he has ample time to do it and not lose a place.

I did think from the onboard with Vettel at one point he almost looked like he was on an in lap, coasting a lot and not really getting up the rev range that much.

I liked the fastest lap battle. Certainly added some interest near the end. If there hadn't been a train of cars in the midfield I can imagine several more going for it all at the same time. I wonder though if it should only count up to the penultimate lap as the winner missed his chance to slow down and wave to the crowd and the pit crew on the wall as he crossed the line cos he was hammering it for the fastest lap!

I was interested in what Dan would have done, like he was never going to finish in the points, if he was say 13th would he have pitted and taken the softs and then gone for it, just to stop a rival getting it?

Maybe he wouldn't but surely Red Bull could have had Gasly do it, better to have that then give the Mercs another point

He couldn't have because you have to finish in the top 10 to grab the point.

Yes but he could have blocked someone in the top 10 getting the point, aka a point taken away is better than nothing

I suspect thats not worth the effort to block or seen as unsporting between the teams.

Some say his race day ego is flawed. Others can see it had more holes in it before.
