[Netflix] - Formula 1 Drive to survive.

I am a few eps in and enjoying it.

If you ever want to see what the fans of F1 are like, this Reddit thread pretty much sums it up...

https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/comme ... d_dislike/

I have found it pretty entertaining, albeit with some questionable edits (Austria 2018 and where DR was placed).

I laughed a lot at the McLaren guys taking bets on if it'll be turn 1 or 2 that Grosjean crashes at Barcelona. They were both wrong, it was turn 3. Also I was amazed at how many times the weird fuck was used. I thought for sure that'd be edited out.

Was hoping this would appear on YouTube but most of the videos there are "view the link in the description" which takes to to a streaming site you need to sign up for.

Anyone for a non Netflix link to this series?

I enjoyed it. Was weird without Ferrari and Mercedes though. The actual championship battle was barely mentioned.

Some stunning shots in 4k. Melbourne looked real - as in just like being there.

I also enjoyed......edited for the masses though. Some cool insights into Force India. Stroll and his dad are cocks.......of the highest order.

I wish F1 races were as exciting as this show makes it out be.....

Good behind the scenes stuff

I am enjoying the series but I find the voice over added after the events, to explain it, to be annoying. But it's a great insight to the sport.

I really enjoyed this series and I'm looking forward to more of this sort of content going forward.

PS this is the sort of content I wish Formula always had!

Didn't expect this after all the events of last year, especially around the pandemic.
But can't wait to watch it.

This has been a really well made show so I'm looking forward to this. The sound design of the first series in particular was amazing.

The best thing about Bernie moving on was that we get stuff like this now (and the F1 YouTube channel).

The only thing that annoys me is the pretend commentary over the top to help script what's going on.

Yeah fair point although the fella does a decent job of making it sound authentic. That's just a trope we have to put up with when it's a motorsport thing designed to be accessible to non-motorsport people.

Well i finished S3. I must have dozed off because I didnt see Williams get a mention. At all. No to camera pieces from Russell or Latifi. Nothing on the Williams buy out.

And if I have to hear from poor Lewis again, I'll fucking scream. The ending was a poor way to finish.

So there was nothing about Lewis missing Bahrain due to covid and George filling in? Didn't they leave out all of Turkey too?

Both got mentioned. Maybe Williams told them to fuck off due to Covid.

I got to say this was the worst series of the lot, they really missed the boat on what was an epic championship.
I'd be surprised if there is another season after this shitshow!!!

Chatting to a couple of people at work and non-F1 fans still love it. The push towards drama isn't hurting them at all with the casual viewer it seems.

I couldn't make it past episode 3 of this season.

I've seen a lot of new fans on Reddit that got into the sport because of Drive To Survive are now turning on it because of all the made up drama. It's done its job though, there's a much bigger audience in the US now.

It certainly is a hard watch this season , Will Buxton has done himself no favours with his injections of dramatic pauses and staring off wistfully .

I hope they turn the fake drama , engine noise and the mixing and matching of radio messages to different races.

Yeah I got 30min into the latest season and I had to shut it off.

Yet my workmate who watches a few races per year was like wow it was soo good I really love it.. Followed by comments built around the framing netflix did "wow that Horner is a dick".

I think they know the sweet spot for the show, they make it for the casual fans who watch 5-10 races per year and don't act like ourselves posting on forums/twitter, reading autosport ect..

Interesting that Domenicali came out just yesterday to talk to some of these points
