Damn, so it looks like the barge boards will now take the place of the old front wings.

Even with his penalty he'll still start in front of Hulk. Mega lap from Bottas, both his laps in Q3 would have put him in pole.

This live tracker in between the screens is really interesting, you can see how much quicker the Ferrari is down the straights, but how shit it is in the corners. I thought this would be the place they'd redeem themselves and really kick off their championship but they haven't been close to Merc at all, so i think their season is fucked now. Maybe Monza will be ok. It's like they've gone back to the old Enzo ideals that aero is for people that can't make good engines.

I agree w00sdy, the Ferrari has so much understeer they can't compete with the Mercs.

Bo77as car looks so much more planted than Loowis in both corner entry & exit. To me that is the difference right now.

I can't see Loowis being so nice this race like he was in Baku.

Lando once again showing he has what it takes.

Awful lot of empty seats. I don't think anyone is going to shed a tear for the loss of the Barcelona GP. Only ever interesting if it rains.

EDIT - 5 laps to go and people are leaving already!

Formula One right now is like me going to clubs in the late 80s. I just kept showing up trying to pull a root, and I just kept going home, on my own.

But once or twice a year, the bag was emptied!

Enjoy your breakfasts. :D

Yeah im already watching most races on replay and fast forwarding most of it.

Ive watched basically every race since 94, It was only really the Ferrari domination and snooze fest in the early and mid 2000's that I previously did this or totally stop watching races, but this year its getting close again.

Im really not sure what they are going to do. Its clear things like budget caps aren't going to be implemented so we will always have this challenge where money dominates the sport, but even then its only really a quick fix.
I think maybe its just force Pirelli to try and push races to become 2-3 stop races with bringing softer tyres, but that could also lead to drivers driving at 60% to conserve.

Hate to jump on the whinge wagon but yeah it's not doing much for me as it stands .

I'm no Luddite but I keep going back to historic racing of any variety for my fix .

I think this radical front wing idea just isn't working on the Ferrari. They're fast on the straight but they understeer in the corners as they don't have much wing to push the front down. And you can't fix it mid-season by going back to the other larger wing cos the whole aero is based on that design.

From what I've heard, the budget caps are going to come in but I'd just rather have more flat out racing. I don't like this tyre conservation and limiting engine components. When they go pop they shove a new one in anyway so what money is that actually saving? One stop strategies are deadly dull too because virtually nothing changes in the car order. At least with 2 stops there's a chance of some strategy. They could fix that by just saying there's a mandatory 2 stops minimum and do what you like with it.

I just hope the overtaking committee they have in place are going the right way in their thinking. The pay wall and the domination of Mercedes is slowly killing it off.

Yep I can't see myself watching much more of this season live. Especially given the 11:10pm AEST or later race start time for most of the remaining races.
The Merc dominance is even greater than previous years so something would drastically need to change for me to get re-enthused for this years Championship.

I might be the odd one out but I've never expected close racing from F1. It's usually just a bonus if it happens. It's only been since DRS came in that we now regularly see overtaking, so we're used to it now. For me it's always been about who builds the best car. I'm also not giving up on this year just yet because we now have a teammate rivalry again, like we did with Lewis and Nico. If Bottas hadn't stepped up his game this year it could very easily be as boring as a couple of Schumi's years, or 92 with Mansell. That shit looks good in the history books but it makes for terrible tv. The Senna/Prost rivalry is legendary but the other teams were nowhere them. There could still easily be fireworks this year, maybe not from Bottas but Lewis may spit the dummy if things don't go his way.

I watch motogp for exciting racing and even then moto3 offers the best racing.

I remember going to Winton one Sunday in 2002 and the track announcers in between races were talking about formula boring. Dominance does make for boring TV.
