Ah the good old c64. I used to have one for a short while. Great little computer. Altho I still have a (more) special place for the ZX Spectrum in my heart, somehow. I reckon the floppy was the greatest advantage to the c64 (and the sprites).
Surprise, no sig. Now there is. Or is there?

The Amiga that followed was the machine that really inspired me in so many ways, but the C64 was important as it's what I used to write my first line of code.

We had a ZX Spectrum too but I was pretty young and only remember a few games, like Horace Goes Skiiing. :D

Pretty sure my first line of code was
10 Print "Nicole is an idiot"

Followed by
20 Goto 10

Nicole was my sister

My old man is unable to throw away working computers. He still has a stock of a couple of c64's, a couple of sx-64's, a c-128, a 128D, several floppy drives and my old Amiga 500 (with the 20MB HDD I paid over $1k for back in 1990). He's sitting on a small gold mine if he were to stick it on ebay for cashed up misty-eyed nerds. He doesn't trust buying or selling anything on the internet, so I guess I'll have to wait until he shuffles off this mortal coil.

He still has our original spiral bound Commodore 64 Programmers Reference guide too. Ah the days of spending a couple of hours typing out BASIC code from the back of a computer mag, to then spend another couple of hours to find your typos to get some really lame game at the end.

Yeah. And when you type the memory of the Spectrum to the brim, it just beeps. And you can't type in a single character more... :D

My first line of code was...

10 Print "Get Fucked!"
20 goto 10

Then I'd go play Theatre Europe
