Yep epic race but...

Which ever way this goes there is still going to be many upset fans questioning why do we bother.

Corker of a race. Perfect antidote to last week. There'll be riots if they fuck it up with a post race penalty. I don't think there was anything wrong with the pass.

Surely they won't announce it soon if the penalise him.
It was a signature Mad Max move though.

Good to see Max has changed his mind about the leader being pushed off

I would like to see the previous lap and the lap they hit shown. It looked pretty close to me, but they havent replayed the lap before.

I dont particularity care for Verstappen with his spoilt brat attitude at times, but if he had been penalized for that, you might as well call F1 cooked and be done with it.
If he had slackened off his steering angle to intentionally hit him, perhaps, but from the onboard it seems pretty sweet.

I like it, good agressive racing and for the win to boot.

I am fine with letting it stand, if that is what is going to happen all season. But just last race they ruined the race due to a penalty.

And I would still like to see the lap before replay, because there seemed to be plenty of people say he couldnt avoid it. He avoided it the lap before.

Good to see the Alfas both scoring points.

I'm not sure what the rules are anymore. Vettel got pinged for running Hamilton of track and making him take avoiding action. At the last race Ricciardo got done for running Norris off track even though their wheels never touched. Now Max gets away with bumping the leader off track. I just wish they were consistent. I dont see how Lewis being in the way of Kimi in qual was worse than what Max did.

Yep no consistency has once again blighted this once great sport.

While I have no issue with the decision it does go against the rules as I understand them.
Correct me if i am wrong but the rule I refer is something like "a passing car has to leave room & not force the car being passed off the circuit (i.e 4 wheels outside the white lines)...?

I am wrapped for Honda getting the win though!!!

Im with you there Duke. Great to see Honda coming back.

Also, a week where Mercedes didnt dominate, and actually looked to struggle. Finally.

I actually think this one was worth a penalty unless you're allowed to bump someone off track to take a position. It's obvious none of these decisions are made objectively.

F1 needed that race didn't it. Changing the result after the event would have tainted it badly, and turned a lot of people off. I'm sure the backlash against Vettel in Canada was a factor in the decision.

Top drive from Norris at the start too. We have some really good kids on the grid.

Gasly's doomed isn't he.

It's surprising how average he's been. He was terrible yesterday given he was equal with Max at the start and end up getting lapped. I briefly saw a headline the other day of Marko saying Gasly shouldn't be telling Newey how to design a car, so he must be complaining about it a bit. It's ok if your teammate is also struggling.

Two points that seem significant to me:

- Mad Max stayed on the track, Vettel and Dan Ric didn't. To me that matters a lot, you go beyond the white lines you lose all rights.
- Leclerc hung on too long - you leave the door open there has a to be a point where you concede the corner I would think.

How did leclerc hang on to long? They were equal. Front wheels touched. He deserved the track room.

Max did it because last lap he tried clean pass and couldn't do it.

He was trying to be sneaky by getting everything, DRS for the next straight and the pass. Trying to get DRS is what caused it.

I assumed he was planning on doing what he did a few laps before where he got a better run by staying on the outside. I don't really want to see guys concede a corner, I'd rather they fight it out.

I don't like the way F1 allows drivers to push others off track like that, but it has generally been allowed for a while now. The battle could of continued on if it wasn't for that push.

Hamilton probably wouldn't have had a couple of his Merc titles if you weren't allowed to shove people off! I agree though this practice of just deliberately driving a wider line to force the other driver off the track isn't something I especially like seeing. It's a little underhand for me but at the same time sometimes you have to realise when the corner is lost.

My point exactly, that is how they play it, it is the accepted practice so it is on the other guy to know what is coming and make his own arrangements.
It may not be ideal but I assume the officials see it as a necessary evil to create passing.
