Merc couldn't but they should've just pitted HAM like RP did STR.
So just the bottom 2 steps of the podium to decide.
Great race thanks to fickle weather.

Well this is all quite exciting isn't it
I'm really annoyed at Williams though for not rolling the dice a bit on one of their cars. With the way the running order is currently mixed up, they could have been in the mix somewhere not still running in last and several seconds behind. They had nothing to lose.

Stroll having a good race.
Gasly needs to watch out, Albon could easily step into his seat.

3 races in a row that have been cracking now.

Best race I've seen in ages, far more entertaining version of the Nurburgring in 2007

BREAKING: Both Alfa Romeos handed 30s penalties at #GermanGP
That lifts Lewis Hamilton up to ninth, while Robert Kubica has his first point back in F1 - and Williams' first of the season!
That lifts Lewis Hamilton up to ninth, while Robert Kubica has his first point back in F1 - and Williams' first of the season!
Raikkonen and Giovinazzi crossed the line seventh and eighth respectively, giving Alfa Romeo their best result of the season. However, soon after the race, the stewards summoned a team representative to discuss an alleged breach of Article 27.1, related to clutch torque application during race starts.
The stewards found the torque in the clutch at the start did not match the torque demand as the driver released the clutch within the specified 70 millisecond maximum period. This time was measured at approximately 300 milliseconds.
They compared this breach to that of a false start with a potential advantage and therefore opted to give both drivers a 10-second stop-and-go penalty, which equates to 30 seconds added to each of their race times.

Ricciardo must be wondering if that bucket of cash is worthwhile.

Haha. Im sure it has crossed his mind, but I also think Renault are gonna come up the next few years. Well I hope anyway.norbs wrote:Ricciardo must be wondering if that bucket of cash is worthwhile.
On a side note Reddit is fucking hilarious after this race, all the butt hurt Lewis fans saying the 5s penalty was stupid, and it was his Only choice he could have made in the circumstances as driving around for a lap would have been incredibly dangerous or driving backwards on the track is even more dangerous and how dare they give him a penalty.
I reckon the penalty of breaking the Hamilton rule wasn't even Enough. He saved himself Massive amounts of time with his pit entry.

Yep a 5s penalty is pretty minor compared to doing a whole lap with a broken front wing, no doubt he was quite aware of what he was doing, I seem to remember him doing the same thing before.

Re: 2019 FORMULA 1 MERCEDES-BENZ GROSSER PREIS VON DEUTSCHLAND
What a barmy race. I watched it last night and so much happened that I'm still processing it all.
It feels like Gasly won't see out the season at RBR. Talent aside, driving into the back of a sister car does not suggest somebody in the right frame of mind for that seat.
Bottas is under intense fire despite having driven pretty well at times this year, and he made fewer mistakes than HAM in this one. He was unlucky with his spin but I doubt it'll be seen as down to luck when it comes to contract negotiations.
The comedy pitstop from Mercedes was amusing. It does seem they save all their mistakes up for one bad race.

I was really surprised Bottas didn't even try and catch his spin, he just held the steering wheel straight until he hit the wall. Lewis at least put effort in and caught it eventually. I know when I'm sim racing i'm usually all arms as I see ground sky ground sky trying to minimise the damage.

Formation & probably some early laps under SC. So any tyre selection strategies go out the window.
By the time they start it'll be a dry line, no wonder they're loosing fans,

I think I've figured out how to stop drivers abusing track limits, put a drag strip on the outside of every corner and wet it.
