How many kilometres do you drive a year?

Post by norbs »

Been reading about driving habits, and was wondering how many kilometres people in here drive per year.

I am an outlier for sure, I ride further on my bike than i drive.

Up until I took this new job a few weeks back, We would be lucky to do 5000-10000 a year across all 3 cars (dependent on a trip to my wifes parents)
new job im putting ~150km a week on the car, but looking to get back into riding to/from work to drop those kms

I got my latest company car almost dead on a year ago (time flies!) and it's just ticked over 16,500km.

Maybe 30km a weekend in quick blasts with my car.

I bet your 16k through Sydney is more painful than my 40k from the outskirts of Melbourne down to Geelong.

I don't do any kilometres but I do about 8,000-9,000 miles. :D

Average in the UK is about 12,000 miles per year I think.

Don't be ridiculous. It's Kevinsham and Kevinsbury's.

You're thinking of American Kevins.

I made a comment to someone last year that I hadn't left the Southern Highlands for the last 3 months or so, which means I did about 20km a day locally.

However, since the big HA last March, I now travel to Liverpool hospital (drug trial) & cardiologist about every 2 weeks (180km return). The missus sees her 97 year old mother in Cabramatta (200km return) once a week plus visits the kids / grandkids in North Sydeny / Manly (even bloody further) on a weekly basis, so a crazy amount of travelling at the moment.

Add in some old van trips to collect vintage goodies in faraway places and we are keeping the new Mobil servo in business lately.
I don't know where I'm going but I'm on my way!

Probably about 20-25,000 a year in one car. About 15,000 on my motorbike and about 10,000 in the 2nd car. We live about 15mins out of town so it's a few Ks to work etc

I voted to quickly, for the most part it's about 10k or less but this year I've been doing work which involves some trips out to remote communities which is a round trip of about 1,400kms, some unsealed, in the work 4wd, that's probably a good 10k extra this year just for those trips.

I think between V and I we do about 10,000 km/year

for me personally, maybe 1,000 km.. 2,000 km if we're being generous. :)

We haven't done many K's this year due to me having shoulder surgery but in the previous 18 months we drove across the Nullarbor 7 times...and 4 of them we went up to Alice.
It's actually a great trip if you have a suitable vehicle and the time. We use an ap. called Wikicamps which is fantastic to find decent camping spots on the road.

We don't do much driving locally but we do about a 430km round trip every 2 or 3 weeks to dirt kart tracks.

I would normally do 10k to 20k, but the last year was way less than 10k (which isn't usual). I expect it will go back up again.

Well at least Aunty Gladys saw fit to give me a half price rego this year.

Typical Politician thinking really. Sure you've spent $800+ on tolls that should not even exist as you pay multiple taxes and excises (that fancy word for supposed not-tax) for roads already, but we'll give you roughly $150 back so it's all hunky dory!

Hell if you spent $1300 or more next year we'll give you your rego for free! (actually works out around a Gorilla if you ask me) aren't we wonderful!

Jeez we get fucked in this Country...

Don't know about that, but I'm looking forward to driving my car again when I get back to Adelaide. I'd also love to get back into some sim racing whenever I get free time again... :fall:
