[R3E] Bathurst and a V8. 11th Oct 2019

Post by norbs »

We are looking at ways to get a Bathurst race going. Small hitch, Bathurst costs a few bucks.

We can see tonight who wants to play, but the content is all in the game, so no downloads needed at this point unless they release an update.

Edit : thanks to Duke for doing all the work.....

Forget the prices there, buy these instead....

The content put forward is some of the best available in RaceRoom, you won't be disappointed in you decide to purchase.

I was going to wait until they had a sale and then think hard on the buy-everything pack.

I probably won't be partaking. Have fun.

So, question - the vRP packs show 10k for 65EUR, down from 100EUR. Does that discount get better than that?

Yes that is the biggest discount you can buy.
So the best way to purchase is use vRP packs & buy DLC pack when they have them on sale.

However if you buy some content now then you get a credit off any packs that contain content you already purchased / own.
It is not a $ for $ discount but is a good discount all the same.
As an example if you were to buy Bathurst only today then all the packs containing Bathurst would be further discounted as a percentage of you already owning Bathurst.

Fark I hope that makes some sense, I know it a crap system but you do get used to it.

I'm a bit gun-shy on this one. I mean I've blown more money on less, but buying this virtual money sticks in my craw.

On one hand, going all out and getting the lot feels like it simplifies things, but I imagine a lot of the car content is not used very frequently plus I would be $100 in the hole and still have to fork out for any new stuff that comes out.
On the other hand, I would have all the current tracks at approximately half the price it would cost to purchase them all individually and I'd get cars thrown in. Still, my first point applies.

I hate decisions

Cursed

I had the same issue about the virtual money thing
And also the cost

How ever after a few weeks of playing the game with
The starter pack and Bathurst
I ended up purchasing the rest of the game
If you are in the position to purchase the whole thing
I can’t see you being disappointed

But personally I don’t regret dipping my toe first either

This game has delivered more fun than I thought it would have

And no annual subscription

It is also why we have offered some options for tonight to try a little bit before diving in whole hog.
Not looking for you to answer but I'm almost certain most of us have DLC purchased for other games but hardly use it...
But I get the dilemma with forking out more dosh & we certainly don't want you guys to think we are forcing anyone to purchase, which is impossible to ask anyway.

I've been there myself many times & not just with this sim, I have so much iRacing content that isn't used & I don't even get to keep that if I decide not to re-sub.
(i'm not complaining but just making a point).

How do I link a raceroomstore account with the steam account? I couldn't assign my email via steam because it said it was already in use, but I couldn't login with it on raceroomstore. So if I buy vRP on raceroomstore how do I use it on the steam account?

That's lost in the mists of time. I did the forgot password on raceroomstore and nothing came through so I made an account. But that's just an email account, not a steam login.
http://game.raceroom.com uses the steam login, not the email login so I don't really know wtf is going on.

Normally all you need to do is login on the raceroom store & select steam. Then a steam login page opens...

I dont ever remember having to link it, if you do need to it should be in your raceroom profile settings.

You use your current steam login & password from the website store...?

Darren jump into the game then see if you can get to the store in-game.
You maybe able to check & edit your profile there & even redeem vRP pack codes.

I can't get to my rig for another 20mins.

Are you talking about http://game.raceroom.com/store/ or https://www.raceroomstore.com/

Because one uses steam login and the other uses email login. Do I buy the vRP using the separate email account, get a code to activate on steam, then use that to buy the pack on http://game.raceroom.com/store/ or something else?

I assume this shit is to get around giving valve their 30% cut, but having 4 different websites for 1 game is a fucking mess.

Ah now I see the issue yes it's what you said.
Use the raceroom shop to buy the discounted pack. It is seperate & doesn't link to the actual game.raceroom/store.

The raceroom shop just provides a redeem code for the game.raceroom/store, so you can just create a new raceroom shop account if needed.

So game.raceroom has just gone into maintenance mode for a quick update to include the new Bilster Berg track.

No idea how long it'll take...
