Unsurprisingly it runs like a potato on the G2 with a GTX1080. With resolution scaling down to 40% the framerates are acceptable but it looks like a C64 game.

Next to try it on the Rift but there's some extra stuff needed to enable it

Couple of people I spoke to said to forget it for now. And one of them has a 3080. Rift S.

Had to turn a few settings down, but it's smooth and playable for me on CV1. I was flying around out in the country though. Haven't tried a city.

I just gave VR a quick go (Rift S). Used the default VR settings in the game, but cranked the scale to 100 (from 70) to help with the legibility of the instruments. Things look pretty rough on the ground, and I found it a bit hard to find the airfield I was flying around from a distance, but it was so much easier to land the plane with actual 3D perspective. I was using the Beechcraft Bonanza at Carnavon, WA (YCAR) for a test (this is where I'm up to on my AU circumnavigation mission).

My initial seating position was way too low, so I'm going to have to find how to set that correctly. I also can't find the on-screen menus to get the ATC and those things up. Using the mouse in VR to manipulate controls in the cockpit is easier than I expected.

On another note, I ordered the Honeycomb Bravo throttle in early November. The shop called me up to tell me they have them in their warehouse as of a couple of days ago. I should expect an email to come pick it up any time now.

So, I've been continuing my Aus circumnavigation while I'm off from work. I thought I'd have go at a whole leg (about 2 hours) in VR.

Flying the Beechcraft Baron from YBRL (Borroloola) to YKMB (Karumba), with waypoints along the coast line for my autopilot to follow.

6am take off (for the sunrise), and live weather set. Take off was fine. Cloudless sky, not a terrible way to start off in VR. Well, let me tell you, the live weather doesn't fuck around. There happens to be a fucking cyclone in the Gulf of Carpenteria and by the time I was 2/3s the way to my destination, there was towering clouds and it started to rain. At first the clouds were down to about 1500ft and I could fly under them, but that only held out a little while. When it came to time to land, there was something stupid, like 50m of visibility, a 20-30knot wind throwing me around and no landing lights on the airstrip. I took something like 4 passes, but I finally managed to get landed by using the Garmin display to line up the runway and treated that little screen like it was the simulator. That was pretty stressful considering I had the VR headset on and I was doing most things by feel or by clicking madly in the on-screen cockpit.

Tomorrow I'm going to check the Qld weather reports or maybe I'll just turn off live weather before taking on the next leg.

Well my circumnavigation of Australia is now complete. If I were to do it again, I'd go counter-clockwise so I could see the scenery out the pilot's side window. It's all in my flight log so I'd happily share the stops with everyone here if there was some easy way to export the log info out of the program.

Next step is to learn how to do the ILS stuff. I was rejected from a visual landing at Kingsford Smith, ATC instructing ILS landings only. I had to tell it to ignore weather to let me land. I've seen there's ILS guides on YouTube and on Steam.

Once I know how to ILS, I need to learn how to fly the jets. My next project is a little role-playing; to fly one of the jets from F1 race loaction to the next as the season rolls on. I guess I'll also have to work out how to accelerate time in the sim for this project. I did AU in real time.

Anyone with the Steam version know what files to copy over to the new PC to avoid the massive download? I understand Steam doesn't manage MSFS2020 the same as other Steam games, but I can't find any advice on the net that is for the Steam version.

Was stooging around this afternoon, and took a flight in the 152 over the Hunter to look at the coal mines. Takeoff from Cessnock and landing at a little strip called Warkworth, just south of Hunter Valley gliding club. Boy has mining rooted the Hunter!

I also bought the Justflight Piper Arrow and replicated the TIF I sent Ava on - Bankstown, Prospect, Parramatta, Bahai Temple, Barrenjoey down the coat to Sydney Harbour, then back to Bankstown. Pretty, but no temple and no Barrenjoey Lighthouse!

Sim runs amazingly on my new rig, all on Ultra.

Some of those are even more extensive via underground longwall mining too :(
Sadly, I had to check to see whether the mine in your images was one I was involved with :( Pretty sure it's not.. :/

I'm loving this sim. 240+ flight hours logged so far. I'm using NeoFly to keep things interesting.

I also recently discovered a little program called Landing Rate Monitor which hooks up with the web portal at https://fshub.io/

I've been logging my recent flights. They can be found here - https://fshub.io/pilot/4753/profile
