Not photoshopping...It is a physically accurate correction??

If you use a colour chart you can do exactly what she is doing with Photoshop or Lightroom. And a lot of the time not get the filthy halo effect she has in a couple of the shots.

I did a quick search of a Lightroom plugin that I used to have that does this just as well, if you have a white object in the shot.

I would probably be worthwhile for scientific research, but I doubt most recreational photographers will bother with all the preamble and carrying colour charts.

The woman who developed the software said on reddit that it doesn't need the colour chart. It's more complicated than colour correction. They're taking images from multiple distances/angles and using a photogrammetry method to produce the final image. That way it gives dehazing as well as fixing the colour cast.

Yep, fair enough, but again, how many people are likely to do all that calibration work? I will take a ganer at that Reddit. Thanks Darren.

It is certainly interesting, and it seems to work, but it isnt the simple fix some sites were reporting.

Looks interesting but considering they seem to have chosen some of the clearest water in the world, I'm struggling to be overly impressed. Take some off the Lincolnshire coast and see how it goes :D
