nVidia 30 series cards.

Post by norbs »

I have to say, I like the look of the Founders Edition cards.

The AIB cards are going to be covered in fans again. :(

Im one of those 3+ year old 1070 users, its never really been worth the jump to upgrade, but those 3070 pricing options look like its a great way to go.

3080 only seems beneficial over my 2070 if I was running 1440p

Nothing wrong with the 2080Ti Smiss. For the right price of course. It is a big jump over your current card.

The issue with the video above is he doesnt go into detail on things like case fans, AIO coolers, multiple spinner hard drives etc etc. it all adds up. But if you have none of them, it is good to know a 600W PSU is ok.

My thoughts exactly. I have a 600w PSU. With a 2600 non-K. 3 drives not including the main nVMe drive. How much power i'm pulling I don't know, and would a 3080 tip it over?

PSU requirements tend to be overblown but then you usually don't have to spend much to go a little higher and be safe. The 3080 does suck a lot of juice though, if you gotta buy a new PSU it really hurts the value proposition.

I'm not really planning to upgrade my 1080 just yet but I'd be looking at something around a 3070 or even a 3060 level if I was. Even though USD700 is considered good value for a 3080 I still think GPU prices are too high in general.

I'm the same. Hanging onto my 1080 until processes even out. Even then a 2080ti is only 30% slower than a 3080. Given the games I play, I might be more interested in that.

Honestly, unless you are rich, or do some type of rendering, I dont see a need for the 3090. How many people with 20 series Titans were gamers I wonder?

Anyone managed to nab one? A local is looking at building a gaming machine for his teenage boys and wanted me to get pricing. I cant find one anywhere.

Haven't NV taken their FE cards off sale, I assume the other vendors may have no stock or taken the same decision pending the issues being resolved?

What issues? The capacitor thing? I dont think it is the massive issue it was made up to be. I think BIOS updates will get around that.

nVidia are still selling cards. Just there are fuck all of them around. See Gamermeld here

I'm still waiting to see what AMD come up with. If they come out with a decent card it could help the supply issue.

nvidia stopped selling FE 3080 and 3090 direct through their website and are selling them through best buy instead in the US. Sounds like they're doing it until they can find a solution to the bots. They also expect to have supply issues until next year.

Staticice or shopbot will give pricing, but good luck finding stock
