Gutted. The man redefined how guitar was played in 1978. He turned the guitar world in its head when Eruption came out and everyone had to rethink what they were doing. Then the 80's was filled with copy cats trying to emulate his style. He was a god to so many guys and pioneered new techniques. Eruption was just a warm up he played in the studio when recording their first album and the producer heard it and said it has to go on the record. That style of playing sounds normal to us now but in 1978 every guitar player had to completely rethink what they were doing. If you go back through the rock and roll world you can pretty easily hear what pre 1978 music sounded like and post 1978 music.

Such a shame, but one hell of a life.
