Landline phone
Our landline phone (VOIP) is just pretty much exclusively used for spam calls now. Thinking of ditching it - any others abandoned the home landline phone number?

Re: Landline phone
Even when I had ADSL, the home phone was never used. Moved to NBN and the story is the same. At least the modem kept a log of all inboud calls. So once in a bluemoon, I'd do a quick search of the incoming numbers. 95% of them were Spam.smithcorp wrote:Our landline phone (VOIP) is just pretty much exclusively used for spam calls now. Zero regrets not having a home phone.

Re: Landline phone
Haven't had one since 2015 / 15.
In fact I have no idea of my new phone number.
Or where the phone point is.
Off to look
Found a phone connection on the NBN box - still with plastic cover on it.
Had to look on the Tesltra listing for the phone No - I had no idea

Re: Landline phone
We had one when we were on ADSL but my wife unplugged it years ago. Since moving over to NBN I opted to not bother with a land line and got the wall plate removed when I got the line in from the eve re done with cat cable. Dont regret it at all.

Yeah we haven't had one since about 2017. In fact I don't know anyone who does.
Ditch it.
Ditch it.

Re: Landline phone
When I moved out of home I ditched it, so what 2005?
My mum still has hers, but I got dad to ditch his like 10 years ago.
These days most mobile plans are unlimited calling, so people dont care about calling mobiles.. why bother with a homephone

Re: Landline phone
When I switched to NBN I didn't bother getting a replacement phone because it was just a scammer fest. Only reason I kept it so long was to have a clearer line when calling my mother, but that hasn't been an issue since I got the pixel. She still has the land line but I don't know anyone else who does.
If they start calling mobiles I'll be monumentally pissed. Already had a few spam sms, but the google filtering seems to have stopped them.

Haven't had a landline phone for over 8 years. Ditch it! I have a number for my line but don't pay for it anymore. Just NBN now and mobiles.

Re: Landline phone
We still have one. Mobile reception in and around our house is terrible
Just recently our NBN didn't come back up after a power outage. I could barely get through the entire call to Internode support without it dropping out. Probably made worse by them doing maintenance on the nearby phone tower.
