Still remember seeing the episode of TG where she was ragging that transit van round to try and beat 10 minutes. Superb driving by a superb driver.
Former Top Gear presenter Sabine Schmitz - famous for being the only woman to win the Nurburgring 24 Hours - has died aged 51.

Schmitz said last year that she had been diagnosed with cancer in 2017.

Schmitz had become synonymous with the Nurburgring Nordschleife, the 14-mile circuit in Germany that is renowned as the toughest in the world.

She won the 24-hour touring car race at the track twice, in 1996 and 1997, driving a BMW M3.

She became known as the "Queen of the Nurburgring" and estimated she had driven around the track more than 20,000 times.

Absolutely. That Transit piece was one of my favourite bits of TV.

She's popped up on TG a few times since her diagnosis so I actually thought things were ok for her. :(

Saw this last night & it actually made me stop breathing
Maybe I had more of a thing for her than I thought or that given her age it is a bit too close to home with how short & brief life can be.

R.I.P. Queen of the Nürburgring / Nordschleife

Incredibly sad news, she was a special Lady who changed my entire world view. Pretty much always thought women can't drive, period.

Now I admit that it's more most women can't drive, cause fuck me Sabine sure could! Specifically she was in pretty rarefied air in her ability to pedal a 911.
