Article 2.5.1 of the ISC reads: “Inside the Parc Fermé, only the officials assigned may enter. No operation, checking, tuning or repair is allowed unless authorised by the same officials or by the applicable regulations.”

A fan video from the grandstand at Interlagos showed Verstappen going over to Hamilton’s car and touching his rear wing in parc ferme, which may be in breach of the ISC regulation.

That DQ was shit for the championship but great for the sprint. Would have been another snorefest if Lewis had started up front.

I thought it was a mistake by the team, like somebody hadn't fitted a part correctly or not tightened it enough or something.

I enjoyed the sprint and that was quite a drive from Lewis, and Sainz was impressive again too to keep Perez behind despite being rather slow.

The short format seems to make everything a little more tense. It feels a bit like extra time in football, where nobody wants to risk anything because you know there isn't much time to recover if something goes wrong.

By the rules there is nothing to argue, you infringe a technical regulation then you deserve the DQ.
They said in the sprint race broadcast that it was too wide on one side, so I'm assuming it was legal on the other. If so it seems to indicate it was a manufacturing or fitting issue & not something more nefarious by Merc. Nor does it look like that is the reason the Merc have found so much more top speed since Silverstone

The $50K fine also seems fair for what Max did. But did he have a complete brain fart or where RB suspicious & trying to make a point?
Also good to hear they will be tightening up parc ferme & future fines not being so light, otherwise teams would be crawling all over each other's cars for that price.

The sprint race was the best of the 3 from what I remember & not just due to Lewis slicing through the field. The different tyre strategies, Bo77as holding off Verstappen, Carlos holding off Checho made the 100km fly by.

Looking forward the the race as I think it'll be the best of the remaining races mainly due to this track being a classic that provides exciting racing.

Just found this in RACER.com, once again I'm sure it will polorize the fans on whether it was intentional or not.

It transpired that there had been a fault with the Mercedes rear wing that meant it passed the test in the middle of the wing but not each outer section, and “it was clear to the Stewards that the additional deflection was due to additional play either in the DRS actuator or the pivots at the end, or some combination or other fault with the mechanism, or incorrect assembly of the parts.

The Stewards heard, from both the team and the FIA, that the same design has been tested many times during the season and uniformly passed,” the decision continued. “Further, the FIA has examined the design of the area of the car in question and are satisfied that the design meets the intent of the regulation. There is therefore no question in the minds of the Stewards that the test failure indicates any intent to exceed the maximum dimension either by action or design.”

Despite that, and the fact that the stewards “fundamentally accept the Competitor’s explanation that the cause of the failed test was something ‘gone wrong’ rather than a deliberate action,” with Mercedes unable to prove a reason for the failure — such as crash damage — Hamilton was disqualified from the qualifying results.

Cracking sprint race although apart from the 15 passes by Hamilton I'm not sure much else happened.

In the off-season I'll try and remember to do a topic on what we think would make the sprint worth doing.

Should be a good race though as Hamilton will be able to get up to the top 4-5 within the first few laps.

It just occurred to me that I may have enjoyed these three sprints simply because it's more racing, rather than anything particularly interesting about the format.

I reckon Lewis could be on for the win tonight if he gets a little help from Bottas. It's a long shot but that car looks as rapid this weekend as Max's did in Mexico.
