Stu’ s latest MX5

Post by Bauer »

Had a trip to Sydney over the weekend to pick up the latest toy. Needs some minor work (has a new unpainted front bar fitted) before I get the obligatory Facebook cover photo. I was a little bit excited to be able to secure it. The messenger conversation went like this “have you washed my coupe yet” to which I got the reply “do you want it?”

I either forgot, or I didn't know they made them for NBs. Blimey. Looks cool.

Only 179 made in total and only for the Japanese market. There are 5 known in Australia and I hadn’t seen one in person until last Friday.

Very cool - I saw a post saying only 179 were built for the Japanese market. Don't know if that's 100% true, but quite a rare thing regardless :)

If that post was me and about 3 up from this one, that’s to the best of my knowledge. They were supposed to do 200 in yellow Type A (mine is badged 6 of 200) and 200 red type S as well. The rest were however many they could sell. They ended up at 179 in total (40 yellow) due to some kind of issue (fire apparently) in the secondary factory where the roof sections was fixed to the car before being sent back to the production line for finishing.

Lol! I'm an idiot... I was googling around, but yes, 2 posts up would have also been relevant :D
