Quake 4

Post by w00dsy »

I started this game yesterday, and the first thing that grabs me, is how much it looks like Doom3. I hope the second level is better, cos i got sick of Doom3 pretty quick. On the up side, it's a great looking game, but it's also seriously heavy on your system. I have a amd3000, GF4and 1gig ram and i have to run it on low everything. It does look very linear though, you walk into a room shoot some baddies, then look for the door with the green lights, red light doors obviously won't open.

Too linear = too boring for me. I played the first 5 or 6 levels and then gave it away. I give Quake a 2/10. :(

Just played the F.E.A.R. sp demo for the first time, this looks like it has potential but it gives the old 9800 Pro a hiding. :(

Might have something to do with the Doom 3 Engine it uses.... lol...

Net play was tacked on for this... if i were you guys i'd either head to xgn.com.au and get the low down on their FEAR servers or wait for the next Quake Arena...

I'm in level 4 or 5, it gets better.Quake 2 was simliar, the first levels were like trainings camp the real story and weirdness unfolds later.

I ... err... acquired a copy of this game.
The serial code on my cd case works during install, but when i go to play the game it tells me the key is in use.

I may have to wait until a decent keygen becomes available.

Try this exe, it's the no-cd version i got. For the in game serial, use the install serial, but without the '-' in between, so if your serial was hf546-wgehry-... it would be hf546wgehry

I was thinking about getting this but got Codename: Panzers Phase One instead. Not that I've been playing it as I'm having a thing for Silent Hunter 3 at the moment.

So is it worth getting? cause I'm thinking this or Codename: Panzers Phase Two in the next month, or Gt Legends.

Oh Jumi, you're avatar is so damn distracting too :D

 Well, Quake 4 is a nice oldsk00lz shooter, if you like that you like quake4... Hmm, its has a bit more variety then doom3, looks are similar, so if you liked doom3 i think you like quake4.
And its not as dark as doom3, you got a flashlight nowadays....

For me, its what Doom3 should have been.
I havent got too far in yet (im up to the bit where i have to disable that big cannon), but the interaction with the other characters is great, feels like im in a movie or something.

I've also had a couple of 'oh shit' moments already.
The big bastard that jumped through the wall at me was awesome.
Might play the rest at night.... :)
