Band name suggestions!

Post by hankstar »

As serious as you can possibly force yourself to be, thanks lads :D

I've been in a new band for a few months now. We've got plenty of new songs and we'll be ready to play once we have a couple more (beware, Melbourne ARSEs). I guess you could describe our music as guitar-driven melodic rock, until I can think of a better description...we'd love to call ourselves Radiohead but I think that name's taken - no matter what you think of the band, that name has got to be one of the best band names in history. I reckon Metallica is probably up there as best band name ever, it just says it all.

Anyway, we have no idea what to call ourselves. If we're going to be playing in a coupla months we'll need something to put on the posters. Preferably, our name will be short, sweet and easy to understand, even by someone who'se utterly wasted. Anyone have any suggestions? You can get in free to our shows forever if yours gets picked..but you have to help carry our gear.

On another topic, we need a bass player ASAP! If anyone knows (or is) a good bass player with his own car & gear I'd love a heads up.

On yet another topic, I've been playing with my computer for too long. A project named ekranoplan is the result. Go to the tunes section at http://www.ekranoplan.org (site still under construction).

I know this is mildly obvious, but what's wrong with ...

*drum roll please*

"ARSE"..

It says it all, and promotes (to a certain degree) this forum :D

I was gonna say "Ne Conjugare Nobiscum" (Don't fuck with us) until I read the " sweet and easy to understand, even by someone who'se utterly wasted. " bit.
I'll be back later today after i've had a think about it Hank.

Was talking with a friend a while ago, and she mentioned a name (not used by a band at all) which I thought was great.

Personally, I believe that the Inuit are the among the best cultures to turn to when looking for a cool name. Check out the names of some of the enteties in Inuit mythology to see what I mean. "Pinga", "Ishigaq", "Amarok" ... short, cool sounding ... though given the details in your original post, they may not have what you're looking for.

but if all else fails, you can always look to StongBad for help -> http://homestarrunner.com/sbemail16.html
This will be my signature until Dexter Bean qualifies for a NASCAR race. Keep chasing that dream...
