i looked on RSC, they have no sets at all anymore... the inferno site are race sets.
the *new* LFS forum i noticed had 1 set, for GTT... thats all ii could find.

Any clues?
:)
Inferno have drift setups too! I use [SAIKO^D]StaN's setup for both the fz5 and the xrt they seem to be well balanced.

I just Altered Camber slightly for my set, and fiddled a bit to give a bit more rear hold during slide.

If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you finally have enough horsepower.

I'm in for sure! I think it has been a long time coming. Hopefully the judging will be fair for all.

Will you guys implement a fixed system? I'm not sure how many judges there are in D1...

Alright, looks like ive settled on a layout for the first race.. We run it like this and see how it goes, we take feedback from the first race and perhaps launch a series soon after.
Ive uploaded a replay, its only 85kb so everyone please watch it. it outlines the track/rules and also mentions what judges will be looking for.

http://nutteh.com/files/driftorules.mpr

One thing I didn't mention, is that you need to stay fairly close to the guy in front, basically a judge will have the camera on the lead car, if we cant see you in 2nd.. no chance of you winning.

I have also done a bracket, just so you understand the knockout, check it out here
http://www.bracketmaker.com/tmenu.cfm?t ... 20Drifting

Talasas, we currently have 16 drivers, but your first reserve atm, im sure someone will drop out ;)

Judges: this is excatly how it will work, there will be x amount of judges (im hoping for around 4-5) after a run, each judge will list who they think won, this will count as a "point" after both runs the points will be added, winner moves through, its not the greatest system.. but it makes it easy and fair.

On the topic of judges, we currently have myself and spoonsports, who will be watching when not driving ourself, r8 has also put his name down, but im looking for at least another one or two people to judge.

Practice guys, the corners aren't the easiest to drift, so make sure you can do it fairly well, not to well.. I want to win :p

what happens if the driver in front is in the fz5 and the driver behind is in the XRT. he might have some problems keepsing up. and thanks to this they wont get a good score

From what I've seen, the two cars take off and one is designated as the 'leader'. He leads them through the course while the 'follower' has to remain as close as possible to the leader. If the follower remains the same distance during the entire race then he isn't penalised. If he falls back then he is. If the follower actually manages to pass *while drifting* then he automatically wins no matter what. Passing while 'gripping' or on the straight incurs no advantage (and may even be penalised???).

There are two runs so that each driver gets a chance to be the leader.

The other aspect of drifting is style. How sideways can you go and how consistent are you? Do you have to correct too often? Do you follow the traditional line, ie: do you hit the apex and drift out to the outside on the exits etc? Most of the scoring I have seen involves a score out of ten. Ie: If both cars are equal then they both score a 5. If one is slightly better, he scores a 6 and the other a 4. If one kicks butt, he scores say an 8 and the other a 2.

I actually don't like the event you guys have planned. There is that very long straight where faster cars will be tempted to blast past adding confusion.

Anything else you need to know is very well covered in nutty's multiplayer replay above. Very good stuff nutty and I think most of this post is just regurgitating your excellent 'tutorial'.

i would tend to agree, the choice of any car adds chaos to the confusion. the 2 people battling should have comparable cars, like rb4 vs xrt, rac vs fz5 or whatever.

i originally wanted to go in the XRG, but what if the opponent is in an XRT and im following? basically i cant keep up and im screwed.

Wow, that was nothing like what i thought Hamal, I don't "think" we are doing the "Formal" Drift Battle, I think it was just, drift through the section, then you are judged on who was the most style, i don't think there is any race in it at all. Then again i might be wrong :)

According to Nutty's replay, it will be 'formal drift battle rules'. You will be going up against a competitor and you immediately head back to the start line to run the race again so that both people get a chance to lead.

Really, Nutty explains it heaps better than I could :)

Yep i got that part, 2 people go, come back, go again reverse order. Just in your post you said you could overtake when drifting, i thought there was no overtaking at all.

There indeed is. That's the biggest win of all but it's not reccommended as if you hit the other car you will lose automatically. I've been watching my old drift videos boning up on the rules :)
