Seriously guys... I suggest you check this out. GPL is not dead, its got plenty of life in it yet. I was lucky enough to have access to the beta versions and this release is just beautiful. Parts 2 and 3 will bring in the low wing and mix wing carsets.

Spectacular......

Its quite good fun. Plenty of grip and power to mess around with. :D Just had some laps around watkins and was fast into the 1.01 range :)

It's nice to do a 1:24.80 at Monaco.

Who am I kidding? It's farking Sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This mod is so much fun. I don't think I'll ever go back to '65, '67 or Thundercars.

It's a bit of a pain to only be able to set the wings in GEM+ but at least we can set wings and that makes all the difference. In a Matra at Kyalami I was a few kph down on the top speed I get in a '67 fezza but the corner grip more tham made up for it. 1:17.xxx in a '69 Matra v's a 1:20.xxx in a'67 Ferrari and still trying to find a good setup in the Matra made me smile so much.

So at last I can do alien lap times albeit in a '69 car though :D

as far as i know the next iteration of Gem will allow adjustment of the wings in game through the set up screen

Yeah I read that too. Thats going to be about the best thing ever to happen to GPL. Maybe the mythical GPL '72 will appear one day because of this upcoming ingame wing adjustment?

Updated iGOR... allows you to change wing angles in iGOR prior to departing to the race so you don't have to go back to GEM to do it. It just overwrites settings in some ini file... :)

The top speed is down for a few reasons:

1. Apparently the top speed of the 67s was overly generous.
2. The 69s are heavier.
3. The fatter tyres and the wings create drag.

Well I chucked the old girl back on the computer today, grabbed a couple of track updates whilst I was at it (had to start from scratch because I lost all my GPL stuff a while ago) and went for a spin at Monaco.

Damn, how good does Monaco look these days! :D GPL feels a bit funny since I haven't driven it in ages but holy crap - how quick are these '69 cars! I thought I was barely holding on but my first lap without a stack was a 1:24.9 which is around my PB in the '67s. 10 laps later and I got a 1:21.5!! The aliens must be doing 1:17s and 18s or something. Freaky braking for Tabac and thinking you're never gonna make it but the front end just tucks right in and off you go!

Unfortunately I had iGOR issues last night which wouldn't let me join the races, but hopefully I will be there next Tuesday.
