Brokeback Mountain

Post by w00dsy »

wow what a heavy movie. Far from a feel good movie with lots of gayness as some people would have you believe. It was certainly a good movie, but it went through the full range of emotions. Not an easy viewing movie that's for sure.

it was because of you big fella ;)

And Nige, i doubt you'd like it, your thing is sci-fi/fantasy and comedy stuff, this is far from either. It is a great movie, but not a feel good movie.

Oh I can watch and do watch any film be it art house, forigen etc etc. I have been writting on film and TV for years. I enjoy all forms of cinema. But sometimes there are films which (unless I am being paid to review it) I choose not to see. The hardest film I have ever watched was a film called "Grave of the Fireflies". I don't think its possible to watch that film and not cry. I would recomend it to anyone, its a great film, heartbreaking, but great.

I appreciate what Brokback Mountain is in terms of cinema and I feel it is a great film. Perhaps I will see it one day, but generally when I watch film I like to be entertained. If I want to be depressed I will look at all the bills on the fidge the need paying.

it's not really too depressing, just kind of saddening watching 2 almost straight blokes try and deal with the fact they have fallen in love and the fact it's 1963 and they are living in man country. Heath Ledgers character is the main focus of that, he is about to get married, is a quiet angry sort of dude and has trouble dealing with his feelings, and that's before he starts his relationship with the other bloke. So it really shows how they are kind of in a no win situation and try and deal with their relationship over the next 20 years and how it affects their lives. The gay scenes are only ever what is really needed to convey their relationship, so there's no excess gayness for all you macho blokes.

I never assumed there would be. This is a tragic love story. Gender is not really the issue.

I'll bet you're the kind of guy that would fuck a person in the ass and not even have the goddam common courtesy to give him a reach-around!
