Who will be number 2?

Post by Exar Kun »

Ferrari will win both titles again this year but who do you think will be in the runner's up place come the end of the season? BAR look very strong despite the Button-gate thing and McLaren and Williams will be sure to fight back after last year's disasters. I can't see Renault keeping pace with the other 3 at this time and Sauber may even be on par with them this year (at least, technically, although not drivers).

So, if I had to pick one at this stage I would say BAR. McLaren to be close behind though and then Williams.

I really hope Williams get up there as they're my favourite team by a mile but they just seem to be lacking on the chassis/aero side of things lately. The head-aero guy they've recently hired is ex-Minardi & Prost. For some reason they are not holding onto the talented design guys. Look how far BAR have come since Willis left Williams for them. BAR are really on the right track with Honda coming on strong now. I hope Williams do it though. And I hope they do it soon. It'd be awesome to be at the race where Mark Webber scores his first podium. :tilt:

I've heard rumour that Newey could head back to Williams after June, when his McLaren contract expires.
In my opinion last year was an exception rather than the rule for Williams, the top management reshuffling (Michaels, Head, etc.) caused more upset than they hoped for.

McLaren was similar, too much energy spent on building Octogon (or whatever they call it) than building cars.

it would be good, but you have to remember that in F1, there is some silly rule that if you change teams at the end of ur contract you have to wait 6 months till you can start working with your new team.

Point in case. Mike Gascoyne went from renault yo Toyota, but because of the rule he had to wait 6 months and therefore couldn't do much when it cam to helping with their car for last season.

I guess this decade of F1 has been alright if you're one of the 75% of F1 fans who support Ferrari. It's been boring as shit for the rest of us though. :tilt:

:D i been waitng for exactly 10 years for ferrari to be anything then a mess :)
schumi can win the next 10, is alright by me :) i think the bore comes from f1 being too expensive and now too commercial... too much rides on marketing and image for any driver to hump the main sponsors girlfriend in in the back of the tyre truck :D

we have a new aera of supercars i'd would love to see zondas, enzos, slr's carrera gts, bentleys, m5's etc to compete in a worldchampion circus attracting top drivers. anything other than aeronautic engineering on wheels :P oh one round should be at bathurst :tilt:

Nope - I'm pretty sure the boredom for me comes from KNOWING who is going to win. :tilt:

Yep, and that's the problem with most of the current generation of drivers. The top 6 or 7 are all as good as Schumacher on their day. Unfortunately none of them can challenge consistantly. I think Kimi and Alonso are the most consistant of the bunch who were in top teams last year. Webber is probably another one but still none of these guys can compete with MS.

Indeed, it's looking that way. They blitzed the other 2005 cars in testing at Valencia yesterday. Anthony Davidson said he just couldn't keep up with either of the Renaults and then found out they were doing 25 lap runs!! The drivers are outwardly enthusiastic too. I really don't know who will be where in the 4 teams behind Ferrari. Things are too close to call at this stage. :tilt:

He keeps saying that "IF we hadn't fallen off the track". Well, guess what? IF a million other cars hadn't fallen off the track in front of Minardi then he wouldn't have had that chance at all. :tilt:

Looking very strong for Renault now. McLaren are up there with them and then Williams and BAR seem to have fallen back a bit. First practice at Melbourne will be very, very interesting as we never seem to really know Ferrari's true pace until then. :tilt:

I think Ferrari and Mclaren will go toe to toe this year, well I hope. I think Kimi can rise to the occassion with the help of his lap dancers :D and give Ferrari a good run for their money.

The problem that I can see is with Mclaren having Kimi and Juan that they will take points away from each other while at Ferrari it will be the same old story. As for the rest well Renault should do well and I hope Webber does well too and gets a win this season.

The new Renault and Mclaren sure are good but what do Ferrari have up their sleeve?

The best thing is I'm going to the Grand Prix for the first time. Seen lots of racing at Winton over the years but never an international race. I can't wait!

There should be a bunch of us there this year - are you GA or in a stand?

It could almost be time to post a thread to see about a get-together. :tilt:

I'll be in the Clark stand within spitting distance of a superbar :D

I'm planning to be there for the full 3 days. I'm not going on Thursday as not much happens. I seen V8's belting around so much that I'm not worried about them practicing.
