Watching nascar is boring. And driving it as well. In fact, its boring. I know there is alot thats needed to be done before the race etc, but that cant hold attention.

Ya see, People like GT Virus are the problem.
No wonder NASCAR is tainted with a boring reputation when people just bad mouth it as a no skill form of driving.
Big deal, they turn left, doesn't mean it's boring racing.
It's the closest, most competetive form of motorsport in the world and how people say it's boring really amazes me.
Sure some of the tracks present dull races but how about u try watching a race or 2 at Daytona, Talladega or Bristol and if ur still convinced it's boring well, then maybe your just a boring person
I'll post videos of all the action from the race to show you how "Boring" it is

You're being a bit silly there GT, this may be more realistic:

But yeah, as the song goes..... "a car turns left and right you fool, race cars on tracks not ovals"
I find oval racing is exciting to watch and definately a lot of skill is needed to race them, however it annoys me that the yanks are closed minded about circuit racing, that said, they probably feel the same way about our closed mindedness of oval racing whatever floats your boat.

I aquired alot of respect for oval racers when I started playing indy 500 and then Indycar racing II, to get you car balanced enough to go at the front and maintain it constantly is alot harder than it looks even though it is only around in circles............. drafting, passing, door to door, rubbing, bumping, 3 cars wide, cars up high, cars coming low ......and all at high speeds..................just one error stuffs up your day, combine that with race incidents, do I pit now and top her up or do I drive on and hope for another yellow........race stategy can make or break you day. Great stuff
I loved how Indycars mixed both oval and circuit racing, so much more variation than F1s boring samey flat smooth events.

NASCAR isn't my thing, although I'd love it if I could watch it on TV. Every race sim that I've ever really got into has had to grip me by the way the car drives - I have to enjoy lapping by myself before I'll enjoy the sim. So I guess I'm more into the driving the car side of things than racing the car - which is what NASCAR is all about. Racing, and damn close racing too.

There has to be something to like about oval racing for it to be popular. Just look at how hard it is for 5 racers to avoid crashing into each other during a sprint race in any car at Kyoto. There's a bunch of other forms of racing and sports which I don't like but its not to deny other people from watching it.
I've only had a chance to watch one race end-to-end and that was when channel 9 curiously showed the Talledega 500 late one night and I taped it a few years back. It was definitely an action packed race but at the same a couple of years ago when I was overseas, I fell asleep during a half hour condensed screening of Darlington. I think it really depends on the race just like really quality F1 races can be few and far between. I'd like to see Talledega again along with Daytona and Bristol being the interesting tracks and even them tackling a road course.
If you're not talking about NASCAR, they've got a few naturally windy street courses like Detroit and Long Beach.
Incidently there's at least one mammoth oval in Europe just like that.

I don't know much but from what I've read of other opinions, Tony Stewart is apparently a walking disaster zone in denial. Apparently in this race (and others) he has the temerity to knock cars out and then accuse them all of trying to do it to him whilst everyone but him gets penalised. I'll watch them after tonight's marathon.

Bristol is a fantastic little circuit. It's not surprising to see a lot of accidents there due to the size of the track. I've been scurrying around there this morning in Nascar 4. Dam yellows...........all caused by me however The Talladega incident is a beauty, Johnny Sauter's flip was fantastic, gets spun sideways, rolls it then gets clobbered again and flips back the other way
