Must admit I had to ask too when I was asked if I could add it.
Essentially I think it means you can get new posts 'mailed' to you, kind of

RSS is an XML format that allows you to aggregate news into one application.
Youll see in that pic that ive got several news sources being loaded into my mail application.
Its just another method of reading information.

pixel, whats the feed for f1-live.com, i see in that piccy you have it, but can't find any mention of it on the web page

But, in true French style, they even have adds in the RSS
