Excited??? I am!

I have been looking for a replacement wheel for the logitech momo for a while, and this shifter may help that cause. My main problem at the moment is that my missus kicks my butt everytime i race because of the "click, click, wurrrr, wiiiurrrr, click, click" sounds coming from my gaming room. She hates the wheel, and in turn, hates anything to do with my online racing fetish....

Hopefully this may ease the pain....

Has anyone got info on advantage1's shifter. Or any other shifter one could buy down here under? I would really like one but don't feel like buying from the US.

Yep, being in the possession of the pedals (see my pics m8!), I know the A1s are made here.

I was just wondering if there were any alternatives, if we can't wait till the a1s are done.

How about buying from Japan?

https://www.frex.com/cgi-bin/store/agor ... ct=Shifter

Only $470AUD plus shipping and import duties :)

Either that or wait until October for the Logi G25.

Rob guestimated a cost in an email he sent me (I'm enquiring about pedals which are out of stock till next week), he's trying to keep it under $250.00.

Intresting, as I said ive been waiting for the shifter before getting my pedals, but at that sorta money I think ill hold out on the shifter, I understand everything a1 do is to the highest quality, I just cant warrent that much money on a shifter.

I might order the pedals this week, I found out one of the guys at my work has a set, and raves about them just like everyone else does.

Ill think about the shifter later on, prehaps when I finally get around to building a cockpit

You won't regret the pedals, they're awesome. You really get to push the pedal to the metal with these. :)

Then get the shifter a few months down the track. You'll probably want one by then --- using the clutch will be far easier.

It's taken me a good few weeks but I'm now getting quite comfortable with using the clutch.

Knowing that I can go straight from e.g. 5th to 2rd would be great though, sometimes when downshifting I'm not always getting it right. I can also imagine that it will be easier to memorise what gear to be in for each corner - i.e. it will be a physical rather than cognitive learning task, if that makes sense.

Makes perfect sense Funk, can't wait myself!

I think I'll be waiting for a while for the shifter too, I have to let the impact of the pedal purchase wear off first :)

Do you find the pedals to be more accurate than your old ones and do you find more feel Funk? I have a little trouble feeling where my Momo pedals are as they are so light. Perhaps I'm loosing feeling to my feet, not sure :D

Definately!
The brake pedal especially has lots of feel.

The main thing I had to get used to after using momo's for so long was the light accelerator... im used to it now and its great :tilt:

As the man sez! :D
Pedal feel is the best improvement. The increased travel of the throttle is one thing, the dual stages of the brakes are another. Often you can use the onset of the 2nd stage as a marker for medium braking.

Clutch is also awesome. Very light. Chunk-chunk-chunk, my gear changes are very quick with great feel.

I'm putting together some spec pages for the A1 Gear but to add a few quick points on the A1 Shifter -

It is a gated 8 position shifter - 7 forward and 1 reverse.

There will be alternative gates available for 2 (sequential), 4, 5, and 6 speed setups.

Extremely solid. I would recommend upgrading your desk !! :D I would bet money that you could lift your desk via the shifter knob. Get ready to throw this thing into gear.

Metal on metal shifts. It feels good !!

Sequential shifter as standard. A switch at the base of the shifter turns the H pattern into a sequential. You will need to change to the sequential gate.

Multiple colour covers (to match your wheel and pedals)

Multiple gear knobs to choose from including SPARCO Carbon look and leather grip.

Did I say SOLID !! These won't break ... ever !!!

Did Darren say get one from Japan as an alternative ?!?! Pffft.

I really wasn't expecting to run out of pedals so I apologise. On top of that, I was waiting for a friend of a friend to trial a different metal bending process before committing to another batch. It got to the point where I couldn't wait any longer so another batch was ordered. That is why there is was a delay. All pedals are now assembled and at the powder coaters. All backorders will be despatched next week.
