the dodgy GTR

Has anyone got this going? The German one i mean. I got it and followed the instructions, finally got it going but it's a right pain in the bum, and my sound stopped work completely arounfd the same time, it's copy protection that pretty much works. I'm quite happy to buy the english version when i comes out, but i'd like to try the german one first. Is there and easier way than disabling the cd drive and fucking with the registry to get it going?

I've so many things on the DVD I've got, I'm not sure what to use and in what order.

I did get the German version, downloaded of course, but could never get it to work. I tried everything but it would not run for me even tried the disconnecting the CD drive thingy. So I deleted it and I'll wait for an English version. Guess that will teach me to pirate, arrrrrrrrr!

I did that and I couldn't get it to work. Did it 3 times in fact and just gave up in the end. But its going to be released in English soon so I'll wait.

6. Right click "Plug and Play BIOS Extension" or "PnP BIOS Extension" and go to Properties.

7. On the Details tab you can select "Device Instance ID". Looks like ROOT\SYSTEM\0003. Remember or write down the last numbers.

ok....i had probs with step 7......i had no "Details tab"...so i just went into the registry where it suggested and found several numbers starting at 0000 and tried each one till the game fired up ( and wouldnt ya know it, it was always the last number i tried lol)there are usually only 3-5 numbers to choose from.

secondly the game worked fine without Starfuck till i installed the new patches (after patch 1.21). once you add the new patches then u MUST use Starfuck.

LOL, I remember the devs telling us that the crack situation was okay because after 1.2 or so they would be using new SF drivers and so people wouldn't be able to crack it.

One thing that happened to me while I tried like hell to get GTR working was......

fark NR2003 is still one very awesome piece of software! Oh and I've also killed myself 469 times in the Thunder car mod for GPL.

I've only played the last demo but need to know if the full version, albeit soon to be outdated, is any good. Can you guys that have it recommend it?

i got it working first go....
but now i am having a bit of trouble enabling my cdrom's again...i enabled it successfully last time....no idea whats happenin.im gonna give it a restart and see what happens....but man...the GT3 RS is a damn hoot...with good sounds

You can pre-order it there and it will be shipped when they get it. Good thing is, if you go and order it now it'll only cost you about $50 (or less) including postage. Which is even cheaper than S2 and so a damn good deal.

Guys if you use Starfuck you dont have to do all that registry hacking shit...

You dont even need to install all these "english language conversions" (except for the spotter sounds)

Just delete the GAME.DIC file in the UIDATA folder, that removes 99% of the German text from the game.....

hmm according to this thread... the nurburgring is much better on gt4...

as much as I'd love to try gtr with this... unless there's a better version of the Nordschleife beigh developed... I'll be leaning more to buying a ps2 before buying gtr...

for those who have obtained the german version of GTR like me you know it's really annoying hearing a german scream at you through the radio, so i went on a quest to find a replacement for the pit voice....

Turns out all I had to do was download the GTR press demo which is in english and grab the pit sounds out of it

Although not all of them are there, the common ones are, and to save you all a big download i've packed the pit sounds into a rar file

(they go in GTR\GameData\Sounds\PIT)

Pit Radio Sounds

Who else has this game? i'm patched up to 1.2.3 and i'd love to have a game with some ARSE's around a good track (maybe the 'ring)

comes highly recommended... car choices is an obvious reason at least if youre fordman like me

time trialling le mans, nuerburg ring and suzuka is great fun, yet gts handling is pretty poop id say

still if your into cars or rice its one to have :P still its ****ing boring game and the ai is in excusable for an off line game...
