My knowledge on this is pretty slim Limbo, however i upgraded my Video card and didnt need to reinstall...

Back up your licence.

c\- RSC Forums

"...a license file was created in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Trymedia\licenses (if you can't see it, make sure to enable show hidden folders). This license file allows you to play rFactor on your specific PC. When you uninstall rFactor, this license file will remain on your PC, and thus, you need NOT reactivate rFactor. Install rFactor as often as you'd like, you will NEVER need to reactivate."

I did this and then installed my new vid card, reinstalled windows, reinstalled rfactor, copy and pasted the above licence dir off my backup CD straight into this location and np's...

sure did! thanks.
i dont think i needed to reinstall. i did. but the sound was still very sad in-game.
then i fiddled the soundcard software and config and it came good.
its my first experience with Audigy card and 5.1 speakers and i dont think the game really supports 'posh' sound.
(but boy did pinkfloyd notice the difference :D )
so after i config'ged it was great. many thanks for help!
