Who are you changing to?

And on that note, I can now get ADSL, so I'm looking at a few companies, mainly Internode. Anyone had issues with them?

I'm steering well clear of iiNet and Exetel.

I've a big issue with 'node: they don't plan to upgrade the Hornsby exchange to ADSL2 anytime soon.
otherwise they are excellent :)
Surprise, no sig. Now there is. Or is there?

Well, seeing as how I'm connected through a minimux-enabled RIM, ADSL2 isn't exactly a big problem for me.

Why not iinet? I've been with them for a couple years now without any issues.

Same deal here. I'm only 1km from the local exchange too! My mate who lives further out recently got his exchange upgraded but my centrally located one doesn't seem to be on the radar for them...

Yea, optus suspsised me..

Internode and iiNet are both fantastic ADSL2 providers, and they offer more speed I think..

I dont want to bundle my phone, so optus gets the nod.
D/L speed is the same, but upload is capped @ ~800

i have to deal with optus almost weekly, suffice to say, i nor anyone in the company that i work for will even remotely suggest optus as a telephone carrier or internet provider. from my own personal experience the customer service is lousy to say the least.

and they'll try to pass the blame off to anyone else but themselves if problems do arise

You can scrap iiNet off that list. A month ago I would have shouted their name from the rooftops as being a fantastic provider.

However they sent us this bullshit email stating that they can no longer buy bandwidth at the same price they could 6 months ago, and that our plan was being stepped down.

Was on 1500/256 for $69 a month
Now 512/256 for the same price.

And if you want the 1500k plan i used to be on, expect to pay $119 a month. fuck that.
It's been nice, chaps.

That's strange Tak, I'm on bb2 for $70.00 a month with 20 off and 20 on peak.

I was paying $60 a month for 10 and 10.

I've been on it for nearly 12 months and didn't receive the email. Hope I friggin don't :eyepop:

Might be a QLD thing?

http://www.iinet.com.au/products/broadband/plans.html

turns out mine is 512/128 10gb/10gb for $59. still annoying when i used to pay the same for 1500/256 with the same limits. wouldnt have thought speed would matter if you still have the same quota.

no mate... Buddy around the corner was on iiNet and he received the same email. Might have something to do with ADSL2 me thinks... he's now considering a move...

Oh... Netspace isn't bad... just isn't as good as it used to be.

iinet's explanation had to do with rising prices of telstra's wholesale products, they no longer found it profitable to give users not on their own network such a good deal, which would explain why people on their DSLAM's dont get that end of the stick

iinet have also had some 'financial' troubles of late, although they say they are digging themselves out, they have had to begin maximising profits more agressively though, which has to do with your issue tak :)

can say that im another happy iinet customer (abeit, on their DSLAM) i have the odd issue atm with slow speeds at peak times, but thats just in tasmania, hopefully they fix it soon... :)

I had the same issue Tak - but checking out other plans available it doesn't seem there's anyone offering any of the fast speed plans for that price? My exchange is listed as being dslam'd this quarter anyway.

Internode ADSL2 has been ever reliable so far (famous last words). Also heartwarming the stuff they include in the package.

Bigpond, even though the price and 10gig is a joke are still ever reliable. never had any problems.

except that one time, some buffon cut the Fibre cable between Alice and Adelaide. then i was without the net for 12 or so hours
