the new gear
i lashed out last week and got a proper guitar, a Belman Albatross. Belman are a melbourne company that are making some really awesome guitars and the quality of this beast is amazing. It sounds brilliant. It feels a lot like a Les Paul and has similar hardware, except it has a coil tap on the push-pull tone knob. I also got a new fender amp which is fucking loud as, way louder than i need, and a Korg effects box which seems pretty sweet even though i haven't really messed with it much. I has amp simulation, which seems kinda cool, but i think it's more a novelty than anything else. But i'm stoked with the Belman, it is a brilliant guitar.

For the most part I'd agree but I've heard a couple of Fender amps that have had a really nice sound. At least, the sound suited what the guitarist was doing with it. I'm a bit sick of the Marshall sound - very over it these days.Bacchulum wrote:Nice ax, but it could do with another string
And I must disagree with any purchase of a Fender amp
Go Mesa-Boogie, Trace Elliot or even Marshall before Fender (which are only better than Peavey)

Must say I really like the style of these guitars. If it sounds as good it looks, I can see these really making an impact on the world stage.

Cheers Pete,
I was looking at the RG Prestige 2570E? or the one below it, but that rg321mh looks the perfect fit , not too expensive either. There are a few new models from when i was searching for them.
I bought my brothers old amp when he bought a stack so i have a marshall jcm800 100watt lead series combo. Old amp but damn she's powerful. The down side is i dont have room for it where im currently living so its sitting at my parents house just using a shitty 10 watt practice amp atm

the guitar was about $3100. It's a mix of the normal and the Grand, apparently it was a bit of a mix up and it has some of the Grand's bit's, so it's a touch dearer than the standard Albatross, and a touch cheaper than the Grand. I got it from Billy Hyde.eMPee wrote: How much did u pay if u dont mind me asking?
As for the Fender amp, it was suggested to me by the guy in the shop, and it hasn't dissapointed me. For brand names i'd probably prefer telling people i had a Marshall and a Les Paul, but everyone has them, i'd rather a slightly different combo. When i first heard it all together i nearly shot a bit of load. Considering i only play at home it suits me just fine.

Yeah, could have had a 5D for that. But thats not the point, what is ithe point is that you find enjoyment and pleasure out of it. Then cost is all most irelivent.

List it on your insurance.
I had a Steinburger GL7TA nicked from home about 10 years ago
and insurance didnt cover it, bye bye $1800.00
Our guitarist lost (re: had stolen) a $4000 ESP and a $6000 Trace Elliot stack which weren't insured.
The replacements were on the insurance a day after purchase.
