Interview with Devs

Not sure if this is old or not but it's a good read regardless. Not sure what he means by simulating everything on wheels? Also the word "Limitless" im assuming is some sort of reference to modding.

It's pretty common knowledge that Scawen is a big fan of bikes.
by the way, that info has been up on the LFS site for years: http://www.liveforspeed.net/?page=faq&id=7

I wonder how a game could simulate counter steering though. The only way I can think of to realistically implement a MC game would be to have a force feedback MC handlebar, and I have not seen any like that.
Until that time, the only way for this guy to properly experience his bike [pictured left] is Phillip Island with all its associated risks [of serious $$$ outlay]. Absolutely love it.
EDIT: Mmmm, maybe they could simulate it with a FF wheel. The thing is to get the bike to turn left, I'd need to steer the wheel right slightly (should be lots of opposite force to that move), then let it straighten. Maybe the G25 would be up to it. I wonder if the devs have attempted proper counter steering....

I don't believe a bike could be simulated accurately - relies too much on weight shift and balance, as opposed to just twiddling controls for everything in a car.funkdancer wrote:I wonder how a game could simulate counter steering though. Yep, your wheel is one of the most important aspects to making LFS what it is, controlling a bike in LFS with the keyboard, mouse or even sillier a wheel kindof destroys the whole 'sim' feeling for me...................I'm dissappointed.Blowtus wrote:I don't believe a bike could be simulated accurately - relies too much on weight shift and balance, as opposed to just twiddling controls for everything in a car.

I've got a dual-shock style controller for the PC... one stick for wheel movement, one stick for changing the rider's weight-distribution... not really ideal tho, lacks accuracy...
Here's a thought... what if a modular wheel were designed; you can remove the wheel itself off of the base and replace it with handlebars w/throttle/brake/clutch. The base has some sort of mechanism that allows the wheel/bars to move up and down and be locked in, so that theyre at the right angle. The left pedal transforms into a motorbike style gearbox, we may need magic for this part.
