i paid 160 for my backpack, and looking at it, you can actually see where the money goes. I personally think $160 is fug all for the protection of all my stuff. Considering we pay around and in excess of 1k for lenses, i'd rather be safe than sorry.

Whatever you do, you will end up with a multitude of different bags.

I have a Kata R103 for when I need to haul multiple lenses and flashes for long distances, a ThinkTank UD-60 if I need to haul even more and I don't have to walk, then there is my Lowepro Compudaypack for everyday use (for those occasions I need to bring my laptop or diapers and extra clothes for the little ones) and then I have a slightly modded used army bag that is great when I go out with just the body and one lens.

I also got the exact same bag a couple weeks ago Hz Awsome bag, I'm taking it on an all weekend trail ride this weekend, 20 of us doing a big trip, should test it out fairly well Should be sweet, can't wait!

Has anyone ever had trouble with their Canon not accepting new CF cards?? Mine is really shitting me off, I bought a new 4GB sandisk fancy pants card today and the camera refuses to work, put it in and it takes ages to start up then says ERROR CF, so I tried formatting it on the camera and it just pops up saying ERROR 99- Turn off and on again or replace battery, in which neither work.

Found this in the shed tonight... remembered the other day that mum had bought it to do some stuff for home video's years ago and just thought to go have a look see what it was like. I hadn't even seen it in years but it seems to be bloody great for a beginner like me anyways. I'm chuffed. Saved money on that one!

It's an Ambico brand... aparantly pretty cheap and nasty but for now it'll do fine. Seems sturdy enough although it is really lightweight and feels a little flimsy. Might have to be pretty careful with a camera on it.

Nah didn't get it off ebay, got it genuine from Hardly Normals. The camera just refuses it, it does it with my other card too, I have 3 and only 1 works I think its something wrong with the camera, dunno if Canon would fix it or replace it? Doubt it.

M42 to EOS lens adapter. There is a shit load a bargains out there in the M42 range which fits nicely on Canon EOS bodies. Manual only though, which I don't mind. It also means I will be able to use the 20mm F/2.8 prime, the f/2.8 55mm and 135mm f/3 prime as well.

only just read this.... friend of mine from uni got a Lowepro Rover backpack, similar to mine but smaller.. for $50 shipped from hong kong.. its a bigger pack than the mini trekker too.

Ok, I figured I'd better post my newly acquired gear here, too.

Canon 450D: - No complaints so far, certainly the camera is more advanced than my skill at this point.

Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS: - Kit lens, does ok for what it is. Though it will be the first lens replaced.

Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS - Nifty Two-Fifty: - Had this purchased for me, and I've been pleasantly surprised so far. On a crop-sensor camera it ends up being a pretty long lens though (88-400mm equivalent). Pretty good bang for buck in terms of image quality & versatility.

Lowepro shoulder bag: - Nice enough bag but it's already too small.
