I've tried the CSR mod and although it sounds a lot better it felt like it wasn't in sync with the car and just didnt fit right Is the "davews soundpack" used with the not so secret in game editor? You could tweak that to it's optimum and it would still sound horrible but maybe not as atleast, I'll try them out.

Other interests have a higher prioity atm. I still like it and its the only game i continually play. But its clear that most ppl r getting tired with it. There are alot of old names that we dont see anymore do we.

I'm in line with the Shonky/Goop thinking. I do enjoy racing, new tracks and cars would be nice but wouldn't affect my enjoyment too much. The racing is better in y opinion because the drivers are getting closer in terms of quality, due to the familiarisation with the tracks. However, I am enjoying a lot more things outside of the pc world. Texas Hold'em poker and fishing are probably taking more of the time normally dedicated to racing and team/league administration.
Another factor, maybe not for the majority of the audience is the console cycle. The videogame console cycle has just started it's new five year cycle, with all three new gen consoles being out as of the 23rd of March. If you look at 1 year ago, at the height of LFS in the Australian sim racing community, all the consoles were well and truly dated and nothing new and exciting was there to capture the younger market. LFS fit in there well and possibly grabbed a few console players. These players may be now looking at these new consoles for their video game enjoyment and not have as much time for LFS.

Now that my daughter is sleeping like a baby (nearly 12 hours without waking, instead of waking every 1 - 2 hours!) I've actually got time to get back into sim racing, not to mention I finally got my pedals working almost almost all the time without problems.
But I did lose interest because I've been playing LFS since Feb 2003... four years is a long freaking time for me to stick to any one game.
But the AAL still draws me back in for the odd race and the other nights FOX at Westhill Reverse was awesome, despite my bad result. Unless something huge happens very soon, I probably won't be drawn back to LFS all the time, only for the AAL when I feel like having a good race as I know its always good for that.

Well LFS in general doesn't seem to be dying, the numbers registered on the master server graph at peak times still suggests well over 1000 racers so it still seems the community is growing and if at worse sustaining on a whole........however I have noticed a slide in general interest levels in both AAL and MNR.
Me personally................I'm bored sh*tless with LFS and have moved on.......still a great sim and I'll not hesitate to buy future updates, but the progress is so sloooooooooowwwwww...................... and by golly I cant afford to wait around forever........I'm not getting any younger.

I have been getting bored of it lately, and not competing in AAL or MNR.
But then I started just doing random races on all different servers and am enjoying it more again.
I think what is putting me off it the two series' going at the moment. For me the open wheelers are not as good for racing and the XFG might be. The slower cars seem to have better racing then the higher powered ones.
So I have been hanging round in the STCC servers racing them, has been some great racing too .
I think LFS needs more tight and twisty tracks with passing opportunitys. Tracks like Aston are just flat out most of the way, don't really see the point in that on a sim.
Lets try and get it going again, I have been trying to get my karting mates into it and am having some good interest too. I still don't see what is so appealing about rFactor. Shit to race in. No auto skin downloads, so much shit goin on. Cant keep up with it! lol.

We've got more pubs than churches
LFS is seeming to be developed a bit slowly, but just as you think they've sat on their arses out comes a patch. Was pretty recent that test patches were coming out every week or so. I def agree that a big addition such as the weather is required to fire it up again tho.
Participation in aal or mnr seems to have a lot to do with the car/track combo's being offered. If more ppl think it's a bit average, then sure enuff you won't see a massive level of participation.

I got a job/moved/bought a bike etc... I wish that I could get into LFS, but the fact that I can't really catch any of my old racer buddies online any more is a bit of an issue. I have a couple of weeks off coming up over the easter period, perhaps the spirit will be renewed.
TBH I was getting bored with LFS also, mainly due to the fact that I felt like I had raced every combo. I dont think I have time for it anymore. I remember the days when I could avoid doing uni work and just do laps....
The money more than makes up for my lack of LFS
I too agree the sounds are a firggin disaster and I never had an issue with them before hand. Now they just sound muffled and retarted.

Not so much the game as the people around which sustain my interest in it at the moment. If it wasn't for the great organised racing then I doubt I'd be playing it much. The one positive is that other titles have waned as people move onto different leagues in new games whereas a bigger base has stayed anchored to LFS. Unfortunately commitments mean I won't even have that pleasure for the next few months.
