Could be a stitch of 3 separate shots at the same place.

The water reflection of the lightening doesn't seem to 'reflect' the light producing it.

I would say its a HDR image (High Dynamic Range) which is basically taking 1 over exposed 1 normal exposed and 1 under exposed shot of the same scene and then merging them together to form one image with correctly exposed highlights and shadows.

It's not real.. had one of our PS lads over my shoulder when I opened the page and he looked at it for 2 mins and said Photochopped. The Lightning is what gave it away... there's not enough relfection from the light that it's producing....

nice link there Big Kev... some awesome shots in there.

From: Astronomy Picture of the Day

Explanation: Sometimes the sky itself is the best show in town. On January 26, people from Perth, Australia gathered on a local beach to watch a sky light up with delights near and far. Nearby, fireworks exploded as part of Australia Day celebrations. On the far right, lightning from a thunderstorm flashed in the distance. Near the image center, though, seen through clouds, was the most unusual sight of all: Comet McNaught. The photogenic comet was so bright that it even remained visible though the din of Earthly flashes. Comet McNaught continues to move out from the Sun and dim, but should remain visible in southern skies with binoculars through the end of this month. The above image is actually a three photograph panorama digitally processed to reduce red reflections from the exploding firework.

There's a difference between photoshopped for lighting/effect and actually several different photos stitched together.

It's photoshopped in that he's adjusted the light but all the things were photographed in the same place at the same time.

I have always suspected it to be dodgey. Look at the reflection in the middle of the photo just above the people on the beach.

After having a closer look you can actually see partially cloned out people right along the shoreline which is more showing than the incorrect reflection. Right in the middle of the shot there are ghosts.

i thinks that's due to the long exposure. They open the shutter, people start moving about and then it looks all weird by the time the shutter closes. It's a cool shot no doubt, but looks like a panorama stitch up.

If its a stitched Panorama, that should not discount it as a photograph. Not many people have access to a Panoramic camera and as far as I know, there arn't any digital panoramic cameras.

If woodsy's fence is curved, then it'd be flawless (except that the tiles show where the merge was)
