I like the return of the varied start light sequence... it's been far too predictable in the last few weeks!

Black screen bug will be good too.

 Wabbit, I read that W42 pre-release on the LFS forum and thought I would wait until it was actually ready before posting here.
Guess you thought otherwise, my Capt Test Patch cred has been challenged :D

Where oh where is patch X. :eyepop:

I also have concerns about the no timeout for restarts & bans etc, I hope that with it comes a lot more options for admins to switch them on & off and/or set a time limit. It could actually turn ppl away from the game imho, especially if it gets abused which so often happens on public servers with other quirks in LFS. Time will tell I guess.
I did read this though "And you can also remove your existing vote (silently) by pressing the same vote again."

Here it is (Wabbit) W42 another incompatible test patch, find it here: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=25446

If you do install make sure you still have a copy of LFS between W17-W34 for the AAL & MNR.
Scawen from LFS Forum wrote:Here is a new test patch W42, introducing a new voting system (info below).
Changes in TEST PATCH W42 :

Updates :
Votes do not expire and are not reset when a player joins host
Ready on game setup screen is not reset when a player connects
Current vote is shown beside player name and in connection list
Improved race position list so the confirmed results are locked
Fuel load is no longer visible in MPR (for strategy protection)
Quicker skin messages after running out of LFS World skin credit

InSim :
SHIFT+B and SHIFT+I keypresses did not work in a replay
Can now deal with and recover from non-fatal TCP errors
Corrected UniqueId in CompCar and NodeLap - now named PLID
IS_NLP is now a variable sized packet + NodeLap now 6 bytes
IS_MCI is now a variable sized packet (same info as before)

Fixes :
FIX : Attempted fix for "Can't remove - Unknown!" strange messages
FIX : Occasional black screen bug when changing to full screen mode
FIX : Start lights delay did not vary each race if wind was disabled
FIX : Host could sometimes crash when admin used the /reinit command
FIX : Could not delete all text after clicking a name in meeting room
FIX : 1st lap qualify / practice speeding penalty could not be cleared

Don't know why I am bothering as we are all just waiting for Patch X, but here is another new test patch, W43 Here "Click"
Scawen form LFS Forum wrote:Here is a new test patch W43, which has a new voting system (info below).
Because of the voting system, it's incompatible. It's also compatible with W42 because of some fixes.
Changes in TEST PATCH W43 :

Updates :
Current Vote is removed when user spectates or pits
Number of connections is now shown in connections title

Fixes :
FIX : It was impossible to join a host after ending race
FIX : The text "Vote 0" was shown each time someone joined
FIX : It was possible to get speeding immunity in qualifying
Scawen used the test sever last night our time to get the Euro's to stress test this patch but I found this comment that is worth mentioning
And you'll be helping to make sure Patch X (which is planned for this week) is bug free!
I wonder if it will be

Only by ppl that don't really understand what is happening. All the dev's care about is a bug free release as they should and I am glad that it is that way. As someone said on another forum it might be the last time Scawen announces an expected release date of an official patch.

Well Test Patch X2 is already here
Scawen from LFS Froum wrote:WARNING : THIS IS A TEST
Hello Racers.
Here is a new compatible test patch X2. Please read the list of changes below.

The patch is fully compatible with version X.
There was a small bug in version X with bad consequences - a guest could cause a host to crash by mistake or on purpose.
The fix is on the host side so I recommend hosts should upgrade to version X2 so the host cannot be crashed by guests.

I took the opportunity to do some InSim updates as well and included any updated translations.

Changes in TEST PATCH X2 :
Updates :
Various translation files have been updated

InSim :
Driver model byte added to IS_NPL packet
Minimum MCI / NLP time interval reduced to 50 ms
New packet IS_AXO sent when an autocross object is hit
New packets IS_AXI and IS_AXC report layout information
FIX : Dedicated host could not fill in split nodes info
FIX : Dedicated host did not report race positions

Multiplayer :
Added handicaps / start position / user name to MPR header
FIX : It was possible for any guest to cause a host to crash

Yes me too, I think the server crashing bug was the main reason for this one coming out so quick.
It will be interesting to see if we get more X test patches any time soon.
Let hope so & it may be an indication of how serious Scawen & the Dev team are at finished S2 Alpha.
(Wishful thinking, I know)

I hope they get their act together really, i find it silly it taking so long... (only because without moving forward they cant get anymore money from S2 users).
Getting out of the alpha/beta stage will help aswell. Being able to sell the game as a more finished product. :)

At this stage, this is the longest ive ever played a game for. All thanks to the MPR & the AAL. I really cant see me giving it up either for a long time to come.

Regarding finishing S2, and getting more money out of the S2 users, maybe the hi-res skin downloads will help. They get more money from us, which means, they don't have to get 'real' jobs, and can finish s2. I hope Eric has been modelling his arse off on some new cars and tracks for s3. ;)
