V8Factor

Post by MAM_Racing_40 »

Is there a V8 Factor league going on at the moment?

If not, anyone know when the next one is? I'm getting interested in rFactor as G25 makes rF much better then me old momo!!!

I'm kind of interested in other catagorys as well if they are just starting up....

V8Factor is tricky with the 6 speed gated shifter, just as the '79 mod is now after the patch.
The reason? rFactor does this thing where you shift from say 3rd to 4th, as soon you move out of third you lose drive (naturally), so then it goes into fourth AND then there is an additonal built in delay so changing with a gated shifter can take up to .25 seconds per shift which is way too long, so not only do you have the added difficulty of operating the h-pattern but it is slower to.
The additional delay can be removed, but there is no way to stop the paddle shifting guys from running that option so they shift even quicker.
Hope that makes sense, basically there is no way to flat shift a V8 with a gated shifter without buzzing the engine every time.
Just another one of those annoying little things rFactor does, but eevry program has stuff like that I guess.

As for a V8 league, the V8 COC series is just about to finish series 2, not sure what is happening with Series 3, have a look here for some info.

The are a couple of other aliens involved so you will fit right in MAM, would be good seeing you and AUS_PRODGERS racing each other with both of you being karters.

Yes I have tried getting Rodgers into LFS but he would have none of it :(.

I did a few laps around winton last night in lowndes' falcon, what would a good time be? Just so I know if i'm going well or not? I got down to a 1.25.8.

As for H shifter, I gained 3 seconds last night from the times I used to get with me old momo and padles then what I managed with the H patten shifter and clutch and all...

Yeah, but those guys are freaks. :D

Nice to see Vail can still do the business despite not being quickest on track. :tilt:

I'm not one of the fast guys, but with the fixed setup race we did at winton, I was into the 23's, so theres some room for improvement there.

19s are for aliens!!! :vader:
After a few long online races I made it into the high 21's and was happy with that :driver:
Its such a tight track for the V8s, turn, turn, dont slide, turn, turn :captain:

yeah, it's the closest track to where I live, so have a soft spot for it :)
That's the reason I am learning it on that track, and never had a chance to drive it on any other game before :(

Yeah we were travelling thru there a couple of months ago, so we stopped in and had a look. Just an open track day I think, so it had a few open wheelers and others zippin around it. Was good to see a track then get home and download it.
Couldn't help but thinking, why did they build it there?, why not closer to a reasonable sized city or town...

I still have to drive like 1 and a half hours to it, and it's the closest race track to me by far, calder is next closest, then sandown, so i guess to give country people like myself a race track :).

The original version of the 79 mod had a fixed delay in the shifting, but there was an "upgrade" intended for shifters which removed the delay completely. Paddle users could use it as well though, so in 1.1 they removed the upgrade so that it's the same for everyone. While the idea was to make it more even for the shifter users, in reality it gave them the advantage.

You can see the difference it made here

I think the neutral thing is a setting in your controller.ini file called something like gear select button hold....
