Just how fast is a veyron

Post by Big Kev »

Those of you outside the UK might not know Autocar magazine but last week they had a DVD on the cover with film of them testing a 911 GT3RS, Gallardo Superleggera, DB9, R8 and Bugatti Veyron.

Needless to say someone's ripped it to youtube

If you want a great idea of just how fast the Bugatti is, have a look around the 4.45 mark. :fall:

They also went for a midnight high speed run

The rate at which the speedo goes up at 5m15s is amazing! 80mph to 180mph in 7s!

I love how they talk the Bugatti to be the ultimate car.
Did you know that the NIZMO Skyline R34 GT-R ZTune is a second quicker down the quarter, not to mention faster around nurburg ring.

And yes, I would take a ztune over veyron anyday of the week

i totally agree its just too fat, i mean the damm thing weighs what? 2 tons+ its a joke, i would rather take the 911 gt3 rs too a track day than a veyron

Yes but one looks like "a car" the other looks like a work of art.
The GT-R just looks like any other car out there.

i'd have a Veyron just for the sound alone. I have no need to do 400, or 300 or even 200, or race it around a track. I'm sure when i go to pick up Monica Bellucci she'd be far more impressed with a Bugatti than a Skyline. :bigthumb:

that's just missing the point of the veyron. Now i understand you prefer the GTR over the veyron, and that's fine. The GTR is a great sportscar. But as THE ultimate car, at the moment it is the only production car to crack the 400km/h mark, and that itself makes it the ultimate car.

She wouldn't be too impressed when you did a Tom Cruise and locked her in though.... P.S. She's mine.
Cruise locked his then fiance Katie Holmes in a Veyron at the premier of MI-III much to the embarrassment of all involved.

As for this lot I'd take the RS over any of them any day. Also the Dauer 962 smashes the Veyron in anything that matters.

The thing with the Veyron though is that its stylish, practical, cool, fucking fast, opulent and good.

Stylish = Debatable to say the least. I'd say garish personally.

Practical = You're having a laugh right? The pitiful mileage alone makes it completely unusable.

Cool = Again debatable.

Fucking Fast = Useless even on a race track as it takes an age to reach 400KPH and completely consumes its fuel doing it.

Opulent = No doubt.

Good = IMHO It's bloated, vapid & pointless.

I think I'be happy with a lambo, I just love the look and the sound of it.
Yet the veyron is indeed very pretty, very good, fast and seems amazingly usable for what it was set out to achieve. Has a sexy noise too.
Surprise, no sig. Now there is. Or is there?

Your Dauer is hardly any of those things. It's a racing car with carpets :)

At least the Veyron is user friendly enough to be able to use.

I never said otherwise :)

However it's definately Stylish (fucking gorgeous actually), beyond Cool, Fucking Fast, Opulent and being a Porsche doesn't get more Good.
Practical however most definitely not.

jesus christ that's fast. The M3 is no slouch but damn that Veyron just walks past it. You only usually see people top speed it rather than sprints, top video.

Which is the thing most people don't think about. It accelerates quicker than most cars as well, and can proberly outhandle them as well (according to tiff neway)

*EDIT* however the poster of the vid isn't a racing fan: "Dutch racing driver Ho-Pin Tung" :)\

**EDIT** and the veyron didn't give a head start, they both left on go. I think that the traction control of the veyron kept it from spinning the wheels and just edged it off the line before letting it zoom off
