I was at the car restorers yesterday checking on progress on my kombi, they have also been working on this (my phone did a terrible job of capturing the yellow, in reality it's a much stronger colour than it looks here).

I'm hoping I'm in there when they get it completely back together before they hand it back to the client.

They look almost as good naked as they do clothed!

Didn't get a picture but there was a McLaren MP4-12C (stupid name) behind me on the ring road..... briefly.... at the weekend.
Looks much better in the metal than in pictures. Great sound too.

Nice norbs. I haven't seen a 12C in the flesh yet. They don't really stand out amongst the supercar crowd but from all reports look pretty good on their own.

There was a 997 Turbo S around here the other day. Pretty much the opposite in terms of refinement from the 993 GT2 that Avro saw. A hell of a lot faster though.

I figure McLaren isn't interested in building a Lamborghini or a Ferrari, they want to do their own thing in their uniquely McLaren way, hence the understated design and the apparent strategy of design that is guided by function rather than form. I hear they used a lot of CFD on that car, along with a lot of virtual test-driving in the simulator before any prototypes were event built. It also seems that they left the car very moderately specified too.
It's my kind of supercar. I'd have one in my lotto garage for sure (white with charcoal rims). Alongside an E90 M3 (my practical family car), a new RR Vogue (wife's practical family car) and I'll hold onto my RS Clio 172 as a project track car.

I was told last night that there's a McLaren Dealership around here somewhere... with an 1980's F1 car in the middle!

I'll have photo's :D

Yep, one of the big deals about opening official McLaren dealerships is that a whole lot of the old F1 cars that have just been in storage for years have been wheeled out and into showrooms. Look forward to pics!

not sure if this should go in this thread or the other

http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/geevesto ... 1005929412" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Kev was probably conceived in one and Hz has probably booked a flight to come to Tassie to get it already.

lol.. I want it.

I sold my panel van and my falcon to help buy the house I am in now.. For the 1st time in my driving life I don't own a Ford...

Just need to build the new shed and then I'm on the hunt for a 50's Customline or Mainline. And I think that will be my car collecting days over with. I have owned a lot of cars that I never drove..lol

I'm straying a bit off topic here, but would anyone have any idea what it would cost to transport a car over to the Mainland from Tassie? Even just in to Melbourne if its too pricey to get it to SA?

Bauer you are an Evil Evil man... Turns out what he wants for it is pretty darn reasonable.

LOL

not sure on transport costs. The car must be cheap enough for you to be considering it. Places like Toll Transport would be your best bet though I dont know if the car needs to run for it to be transported as a "car". This would need to be treated like freight I suppose??

yeah i sent him a msg, just cos I was curious of what he wanted. Then when he told me, I told the missus and she gave me one of those "I would rather you don't, but if you really want to" looks, bit like when we have sex. So now i'll get a quote on transport and if it seems viable then we'll see. My old boy had a Prefect when I was like 5 or 6, so this thing is bringing back the memories.

It's not really what I want right now, but sometimes you gotta jump at things like this...

Please don't post any more cars like this on this website.
