Tidy looking car dude - does it have a clubsport body kit on it? I wanted a VR Clubsport for a long time when I was younger.

speaking of Escorts, where is Matti and his Van of Love? Thought you only had to have the word Ford and Escort together and he pops in with some piccies from his youth :tilt:
  I saw that last night and thought about posting a pic of the mighty Eski... but sadly, it's not the car I drive anymore (I now drive a Milk Carton... 2 litre and it's white...). But I'll post the Mk I Escort when you post a pic of the mighty WB. :p

Nah its the WGR(Wayne Gardner Racing) bodykit, alot of it is similar to the clubsport kit though, the rear bar is exactly the same, just the front etc has a few differences. :)

Cool - I liked the curved rear spoiler on those. Probably a nicer kit overall than the Clubby actually. :tilt:

I'm behind the wheel of a:

red 1992 Mazda mx6
v6 engine, FWD but 4 wheel steer compensates nicely!
awesome fun on a track like Winton

Haha... nice car Scottie :)

thats essentially the same as my telstar, 4ws 2.5l v6. Think you have a 40kg advantage though

4WS is an interesting feeling. And in the wet if you corner too fast you get alot of oversteer thanks to the end of the car "swinging around" + momentum.

i'm going to feel soo stupid asking this but what is 4 wheel steer?

Is it like monster trucks but more subtle?

yeah, my skyline has 4ws too. at low speeds if you turn left, the rear wheels will turn right (to a maximum of 1 degree) to aid turning... at highway speeds i believe they turn the same direction as the front to aid lane changing
very subtle and not very noticable though
It's been nice, chaps.

There are actually a few types of 4ws, depending on what car.

Hondas version goes something like; when you turn the wheel, for the first 9 degrees of front wheel turn the rear wheels turn the same way up to 2 degrees. Aka when changing a lane on the freeway you turn the wheel slightly and the car will crab. After 9 degrees the wheels will turn the opposite way to the front, and upon reaching full lock the rear wheels will be at 6 degrees. Aka tight turning circle for car park driving.

Mazdas version goes something like; less then 35km/h and the rear wheels will turn in the opposite direction to the front. Aka carpark driving. Above 35 km/h they will turn the same direction as the front and hence 'crab' the car. Aka freeway lane changing. The rear wheels turn 5 degrees in both cases.

Skylines version is completely different. Super HICAS. Its 'high speed' only, its not there to aid parking the car or anything like that. Its all about improving handling of the car. And yes it only goes up to 1 degree.

I can imagine you'd barely notice 1 degree on the rear. It would have a very subtle effect, but no doubt would improve the handling overall. 5 degrees is certainly a very weird feeling, and it really does take a bit of time to get acustom to how the car drives at low speeds. Because the rear of the car "swings" you have to be alot more careful. But the turning circle is amazingly small. However when you try to take a corner at ~35km/h and the steering decides to go from "straight" to "3 degrees" the car feels insanely weird. In the wet around a long bend this is especially scary. The rear of the car seems to lose traction before the front [more weight at the front]. I've gotten my telstar completly sideways just from going around a roundabout at fairly low speeds. You always expect understeer before oversteer in a fwd car [unless you flick it violently]. I think what happened was the car went into the corner at 35+ km/h, slowed down as going around the corner and the 4ws decided to kick in which "flicked" the rear out. Its good fun, but a bit unpredictable at times.

Didn't realise you were going to buy that car. Too much in terms of price ?
