Subaru Forester - can I replace my keyless entry?

Post by smithcorp »

...with a learning remote?

My keyless entry has stopped working and the cost to replace the key is more than $250!

Anyone know if a learning remote (from Jaycar or Ebay) will work on my car (2001 Forester)? When i took the key to Jaycar today the shop assistant said he thought the Subaru keyless lock had code-jumping so a learning remote wouldn't work. However, other stuff I've read on the web suggests they would.

Does anyone have experience with this please?
