We finally get to know how much it's going to cost.

http://iracing.com/news.htm

It's a subscription fee about the same as WoW. You only get a base package though and have to pay to get extra cars and tracks. No indication what you get in the initial package though.

$13USD/month ~ $180AUD/year. Pretty much the same as WoW, which has 10 million subscribers.

From the sound of it you might be able to earn credits which would reduce that cost though.

Grinding for tracks. Hmm, not so sure about that one :)

The day I have to pay a subscription to sim race is the day I stop sim racing.

Fook that, i too was looking forward to it but im not too keen on forking out every month just to race.
If i was a hermit and did nothing with my life but sim race then iRacing might have a chance of taking my cash.

Ide rather fill my tank up in my car and go for a boot thru the Adelaide hills

not this little black duck. It's just the occasional fang for me, i'd much rather buy the game and be done with it.

I would not mind the monthly fee if it's reasonable and I get enough fun out of it. But lately my simracing has gone down, and for 1 session a week I'm not sure if I want to fork out $20 +++
I'll likely give it a 1-mo trial like most of us here, I want to see it in action for sure ;)

Edit; or maybe I'll wait a few months till they realise that people are unwilling to pay this much, and start giving away free trials :D

Edit2: How the hell they think it's a low-cost alternative to try compared to $40 bucks (full price!) racing sims...
Surprise, no sig. Now there is. Or is there?

Yup, I can't see the majority going for it. It's just too much, and I don't think simmers are that obsessed.

I suppose I should go and have a look at RSC to see if that's correct... ah isn't lazy posting great... :)

Not for me, can't really justify that sort of money per month for little racing I do. But it's pretty apparent that iRacing really isn't aimed at us anyway. They aren't hiding the fact they wish to see this as a platform for a new type of motorsport. Those behind iRacing see it becoming something that could eventually rival stuff like F1, WRC etc and while that may seem a little far out to suggest it's not entirely out of the question. Pretty sure they want to redefine 'sim racing' into something much, much different to what we know it today. Time will tell I guess :)

I'm hoping this ends up to be a big flop and they just release it for a one off payment. Bit like Fury how it's basically free now.

Ah no thanks, in fact you can ram that right up your arse.

WoW is a good model i guess but for the small user base of a car sim , cant see it.

I'm not concerned about the subscribtion, it could well be worth that price. What i AM worried about is a small thing that says:

Add-on Cars: $15 each
Add-on Tracks: $15-$25 each....

LIKE HELL I'M PAYING FOR A SUBCRIBTION AND FOR THE EXTRA FUCKING CONTENT!!!!!

Heh, not many of you have read that paragraph fully. It's not compulsory to quickly purchase the extra content, or to pay for it with extra cash at all. Read it, you lazy bastards, don't be so shallow.
