Re: Photography Gear For Sale thread.
i get the feeling this guy is trying to get me down as low as possible... yes, i did offer $350 here but thats cuz its you guys
http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showt ... p?t=758378
he has the same lens as you VT, and i already told him there wont be a vast improvement over it, and not at all in terms of image quality.
you reckon i should take him up on that? its not a hell of a lot more than heading off to camera exchange (which is just a short walk from uni) which would be much easier.. im sure they would sell it to the public for around $400. i dont wanna rip off anyone, but i wanna make sure im getting what its worth too.

Re: Photography Gear For Sale thread.
Honestly, dunno.
I've probably come to my senses and decided that the next lens I need to get is the ubiquitous 50mm 1.8.
If you can get $345 from camera exchange and not have to worry about registered post etc (not to mention if it gets damaged on the way) then I'd probably lean that way.

I thought you may be interested or know someone who is interested in the following lenses. All have hoods, original boxes, instruction manuals.Postage would be $20 registered person to person.
EF 50mm f/1.2 L.....$1800
EF 16-35L Mk 1........$1500
EF 14mm f/2.8 L ( almost impossible to get now)....$2100
EF 70-200 f/2.8 L IS......$2200 ( super sharp copy - why I sold 135L )
If I had the cabbage, I would be all over the 50mm, but alas.
Let me know if you are interested.

Probably nothing but he's selling a 1.2. I'd like a 1.4 though. That's what I have in my film kit.DexterPunk wrote:J.D. wrote:Wish I could afford that 50...

There is one thing: the crop factor of my 40D means that I would like using an 80mm lens on a full frame body. The DOF data doesn't change though. That would make the 1.2 useful as a portrait lens. The difference is probably unimportant. Just a thought.

Re: Photography Gear For Sale thread.
id reckon the edge to edge quality on the 1.2 coupled with the weather sealing etc would make it an awesome lens.... the actual stop(?) though, im not sure would be THAT handy, i find taking portraits at 1.8 sometimes too shallow, if you miss the eyes, and it AF's on the nose like so often does, the DOF at 1.8 is too narrow to get the eyes in focus. I certainly wouldnt say no if someone was to give me one but i think unless i had money to burn, id go a 1.4.
speaking of which, i really think ill use my 50mm a lot more once i have a full frame camera..... same can be said for my 70-200 i think too. my new 24-105 at 24 will be wider than my 30D with the 17-85 on it

I love my 50mm and whilst I've used it heavily on my digital SLR, it's infinitely better on a full frame or film body, you can basically do anything with one and since I've got the Bronica 75mm lens (roughly 50mm equivalent) I've gone off wide angle completely ... wonderful focal length.

Leica Summicron 90mm f/2 lens with Canon EOS adapter. has a built in hood. Beautiful lens for portraits. The B&W filter is worth $60 on its lonesome.

Re: Photography Gear For Sale thread.
wish i could afford that norbs.
im thinking of selling my trigger box.... the gadget i use to catch water drops or things smashing etc.... only reason im thinking of selling it, is to buy some more elaborate gear. Theres nothing wrong with the box for most things but when some really precise stuff needs to be done, theres some high end gear out there that can do the job, plus a few more things. Either way, the stuff i need to get is going to cost around $590 AUD not including postage so i think i may sell it to afford this new gear. Would probably be better going to someone who has some basic electronics knowledge, it hasn't stopped working anytime ive used it, but it IS homemade, and something may need a re-solder etc. It would be a very reluctant sale... as im quite proud of my creation Id be asking $300 for it... i don't think thats too unfair as the parts cost around $70 (+ $10 for a solar cell that im yet to attach but would do before selling) and the hours ive put in to make it. i dare say this wont happen for a few months... but just thought id give a heads up in case people would like time to get funds together and wanna know more info etc.

I'd be tempted if i had the money when you go to sell it. I'll have to see what sorta a position im in at that time though.

Does anyone know where I can pick up one of those monitor calibrator thingy's ?? my calibration looks like a dogs breakfast at the moment, and my usual calibrate by eye isn''t working due to the way I have the main monitor set up.
